The 2TH PWR Track Car conversion

hmm. must get down to 2200 pounds with cage.
these outta shave off 14 seconds from my lap time.
They came in the mail and are my only update. Build is stalled by major suspension components not arriving yet. That may cause me to start cutting with a disc on the interior.

Today was battery day.
Braille 9 pound battery vs 37 pound OEM battery.
The 350Z won't see daily driving so I got this with Canadian Tire gift certificates to hopefully keep it the battery strong in between uses.
I'm a little weary of the batteries staying power, but, because racecar. Been waiting to use that one.
Admittedly I was stumped, given the difference in size between the batteries, how to safely mount the braille.
I called a buddy and he fixed it up for me. He drilled into the stock mounting tray and used the supplied J hooks. He cut short the OEM battery tie down the welded it to the new smaller width. The result is rock solid. I hope this will pass Ontario Time Attack inspections. I think it will.

As long as it doesn't move, its good.
I haven't installed mine yet. Mines not quite as tiny as yours (15lbs) but its maybe 1/2 the size of stock. Was hoping to just tighten the **** out of the tie down and hope it will be enough.
Worst case Ill take it to can-alignment and have scott fab something up. Or maybe a carbon fiber battery box! :P

Why don't you guys mount it in the back?
You guys made your insides look like race cars might as well do the battery in the trunk idea. Or put it in the sub box that way your running less cable and easier to make a custom bracket to hold it then in the engine bay

Same here, it was going to be a lot of work to move 15lbs, plus have an extra 2lbs in large wire. I wish all cars would just come that way stock, my 25 year old BMW has the battery in the trunk.
If/when I end up redoing all the electrics I'll do it then for sure.

When you start moving your battery around, behind the passenger seat is a great spot. Low centre of gravity and weight in the middle, not over the rear axle or behind it.

You could probably fit it right up against the rear shelf in the passenger area and still keep a seat there, just might lose 2in of leg room.
Also have to consider that the longer the lead to the starter, the more loss there is between it and the battery. Fine with a normal 550cca brute, but not with a tiny laptop battery!

Got my Aim Solo GPS lap timer in the mail on Wednesday. I downloaded Dashware and just started messing around with it to see what it could do.
I made this as a test of some of the new capabilities. Now I can see exactly how slow I'm going, analyse the data and try to go marginally faster.

I decided I might try and put on brembos this weekend, and cut out some metal.

Well I kinda feel like an idiot. I didnt feel I had the technical skill to do this so I left my car with someone that was recommended to me to do it.
But the 350Z uses R-134A which has no ozone depletion potential. I think they stopped using freon a while ago.
