Finding some stuff to do over the winter since the Z is pretty solid and nothing broke yet.
I found an old style AEM wideband in my parts stash, wired it into my racecapture with an already open channel I have available. Nice free DATA source. Love me some more data. Keep your stuff modular, was just a matter of adding some pins to my already created harness and programming the channel in.
Added an OEM style pass through for the sensor. Sensor bung is welded into the center muffler taking AFR from combined engine banks rather than one side bank.
The actual gage is hidden behind the dash where the radio would go. Racecapture is the only display needed. Newer style AEM gauges you can delete the actual gauge, older they need to be in the mix to get the data out.

New fender liners. These got trashed from the big sidewall Nittos from 2020. Got the cheapo ebay ones, 10/10 would recommend. They are thick and fit perfect.
Fender liners are super important for managing airflow and keeping tire scraps and track junk out of places it shouldn't be. Keep it reliable with easy fixes.

So I decided to fix my leaky power steering once and for all. Not sure this was a good idea looking back, BUT here we got. Should have went OEM? You tell me.
Also cross posted this on the track prepped Z group on FB.
Chase Bays power steering kit and cooler review: This kit isn't cheap, I really like the idea of a nice baffled can and high quality lines pre made ready to install. tldr: make your own kit
As expected all the fit and finish of the hardware from chase is great. Can looks perfect and hoses lines are very high quality. Shipping and packing was perfect and fast.
Install review: Stock engine bay 350z.
No instructions provided, only terrible images on their website.
The can does not come with a 350z specific mounting solution even though its marketed as a 350z kit. Generic mounting bracket is supplied. I repurposed the stock mount for a clean solution. Chase mount was not right.
The lines to and from the can and cooler are tool long / too short / not the right length. I had to trim some lines and get creative with some to make it reach. In the end it all made it. Stock overflow tank gets in the way of the return feed, had to trim.
There is no mounting solution for the rack lines at all. I had to make my own. This is asking for a failure on track.
There is no cooler brackets included even though the cooler core has a markup on price. I had to buy them separate.
There is no provision to mount the PS switch. Case claims via support channel this is not needed at all. I made my own solution.
The PS rack adapters do not sit flush. Chase claims via support this does not matter. I chose to purchase MA motorsport PS adapters instead.
For motorsport use. Fluid management is extremely important, any oversight can send you into a wall if you slip on your own fluid.
Fast forward ..... Track testing - The reservoir leaks.....
The old front brembo finally kicked the bucket. Tried to rebuild them yet again but could not get them to stop leaking past the pistons even with new OEM seals. rears are fine and rebuilt them no issue.
Rockauto sells re-mans for $50 each. Send in the old cores. Spray painted them with SteelIT. I doubt i will DIY rebuild again rather than just send in for reman set.
Great to be back out. First things first the AR1 are FAST. Both Rod and I were able to set new PRs.
I was consistently able to carry about 5mph more speed though every corner with the AR1 compared to NT01. Overall lap improvement of 2.7 seconds!
There is more in the AR1 with an theoretical lap improvement of around 3 seconds.
Green = AR1 Purple = NT01

Been lurking on this thread for a while now and I decided to finally start an account. Awesome to see your car evolve over the years and all the progress that's been made. Hope to see lots of track updates here for the year, best of luck!

Thanks for sure, not much feedback these days. I guess most people are trying to get YouTube views.
Back to my favorite Limerock in June.
NEW PR!! <3 AR1
1.03.06
My self made power steering pressure switch adapter bused a leak. O Ring did not seal correctly. This was not a good solution. Managed to simply remove it in the pits and find someone with PS fluid to refill the system. Didnt miss any track time thankfully.
The quest for ultimate reliably continues.
Transmission cooler! I had this installed for Limerock as was able to collect some data.
In-line filter just like the diff cooler.
In the front we now have all seatrab coolers. The big oil cooler, power steering and the new transmission cooler.
Before and After with the transmission cooler. 11 laps.
Two different tracks, not directly comparable. More data will be needed.
The temps are lower overall and rising more slowly with the cooler, need an enduro event for a true test.
