Got up to Watkins Glen over the weekend. Overall the event was great, weather was absolutely perfect. 70s and sunny all weekend. Forgot the camera, cell phone pics!

Now, blew up the axle boot end of day 1.

My theory is the car is way too low and I was really attacking the curbs at the Glen. Overextended the boot and away it went. What do you think?

weird that it just busted open like that since it looks like the internals are intact? Could it be debris?

Axle is all fixed, went with a cardone from rock auto. Lets just hope it holds up.

Stillen sway bars installed. Also ordered 1" longer springs for the rear to get more ride height. The adjusters are already maxed out at the top.

Getting out the a new track for the east coast. Palmer. Its basically carved out of a mountain, signed up for 3 days. Looks wicked so far.

Got to attend a three day event at the brand new track. Palmer Motorsports Park. This place is WILD! Its seriously carved out of the side of a mountain! The constructions is still very much underway. No bathrooms, electricity, buildings. And its also missing curbs still, lots of rock and dirt gets pulled onto the track. However the asphalt feels extremely sticky, they used some special compound.
This track is not for the faint of heart this might be the most technical track on the east coast. There are walls everywhere, pretty much there is zero runoff at all. It took me a solid day and half to really get the line down. As long as you dont look at the walls this place is a blast!

The z ran flawless, not one issue. I really like the new stillen sway bars with the BCs, feels even more planed now.

Managed a 1.59.9 thats under 2 min!

No pavement yet in the pits. It was DIRTY dust bowl everywhere!

Another track weekend in the books for me!
Summit main with NJ chap BMWCCA.
Also some car updates, RPF1 18x10.5 275/35 NT01 all around. Finally stepping up to some real tires! The grip is truly addictive. I have no historical lap times from summit main to compare, but I was driving with guys who normally are way faster then me. Overall all a super fun weekend!

Bad news, tore the axle boot again. Need to figure this one out asap. Have a bunch more events still to go this year.

Truly a great read for anyone starting out(like myself). Wish I could go back to the KISS method. Trying to make a street car to track is proving itself to be a fun challenge. People have mentioned it. The car without the speaker box and no cage do you feel the car become loose? I have a kirks bar(x). I want to cut that out next.

Would you say the Harry's laptimer could be used for auto-x?

Deff getting some Maxjax!!! (on sale at costco...)

Keep the logs going. Jealous of the level you are able to do! Good luck this season.

Chris(sorry for the questions )

Chris, I personally did not notice much difference handling wise. Keep in mind I also added the roll bar. Was about -50lbs said and done IIRC. Cut it out !!!

Harry's has an autox feature, I personally have never tried it. But give it a go I would just recommend using an external GPS antenna for better data quality. Harry's has supported ones on their site.

Here is some carnage photos. Blew the axle again. Kept driving on it since it wasn't TOO bad and I didnt notice till I was loading up to go home

Going to send it out to Drive Shaft Shop today. They have some sorta high temp grease and venting for the boots. The theory is the grease is too much / overheating and blowing out the rubber boots.

Also, whiteline rear diff bushing failed. Time for solid? Whats a better choice? I like the ideas of some compliance in the driveline.

What bushings do you have on the front side of the diff? I can't help but think all of your differential area problems are related.

The actual diff ear bushings or the "add on" ones? If you ripped the rear bushing, the pumpkin might be moving too much.

I use Race Chrono for autox and track. You can set your own sectors and create your own track, if you don't want to use the maps uploaded to the database. You can pair it with an external GPS, ODBII reader, and other things. It's free on Android but certain features are purchase-only, like exporting data, I think.

Directly from whiteline support.

. Thank you Mark,

The info supplied is actually sufficient. We had one other customer with a dedicated track car where we saw an identical failure. With their second set of bushings they incorporated a rear diff cooler as we had assumed the rear diff was getting too hot and breaking down the bond between the metal support sleeve and the bushing material. The rear diff cooler seemed to resolve the issue thus far. A word of caution on re-installing the bushing onto the vehicle as continued overheating of the bushing could cause the kit to fail again. The idea is that our engineers will use the report I’m filing today to re-design the kit and try and compensate for this condition. I’ll let you know if I get any other suggestions from the team after my report.
