So I placed an order for 2 bottles of OSG oil from Coz but I recently found a local seller for these so I grabbed a couple liters as well - 82usd for a litre of oil fml.

Just to conclude my drama, I wanted to share what happened after we drained the wrong oil and poured the OS Giken Oil in: the moment I pulled out of the garage the LSD produced the same clunking noise and harshness. Few hundred meters of zig-zag driving pattern (completely empty backroad @ 12am), the noise gradually disappeared. Around 15 miles of driving and the noise was completely gone. The OSG LSD operates smoothly now.

The car feels so great powering out of turns! It feels like it is a lot easier to control than with the VLSD. Can't wait to try it out on the upcoming AutoX!

question and I am not sure if it should be posted here or not. Ill post it here and see what happens.

so the last few days I randomly hear this weird noise, I keep thinking maybe its loose suspension? so I went under the car tonight, looks like the seal for the diff is broken and theres fluid all over my diff cover area. So that makes me think, maybe its something wrong with the LSD? (OS GIKEN)

I am going to attempt to have the seal replaced tomorrow/change the fluid (currently has OS GIKEN fluid in it) but just thought Id get your guys opinion on it to see if maybe someone knows what the noise is (PLEASE DONT BE THE LSD!)

here is a quick video, only way I could imitate the noise was to give it gas and let off and do that over and over again.

thanks guys.

Between the diff cover and the diff housing there was some white stringy stuff that looks like some sealant the shop may have put on before closing the diff?

The noise sounds like suspension noise. The gasket between the cover and housing can leak and its not a big deal. You may also be puking fluid out the breather tube on top. This is common especially if the diff is overfilled.

Oh ok cool!
I was gonna pick up new diff fluid from a local shop to do a change anyways. I was gonna pick up AMSOIL 75w140 is that good weight for a OS GIKEN?

I used motul 75w140 for break in and have been using OS GIKEN fluid since.

EDIT: now that I think about it, it may have been filled too much. I remember the shop ended up using both cans of OS GIKEN fluid and I think your only suppose to use 1 can and like 7/10th of the second can so that maybe why it's all over the housing?

Do you have the stock crap bushing in the subframe? When those break they douche black fluid all over your diff.

Keep us posted. I'm pretty sure your LSD is fine. You replaced your bearings too when you put on the OSG LSD right?

I think it's trashed for good. He should give it to me for me to dispose of.

Yeah I know but what are you gonna do lol.

Yeah all bearings and seals everything was changed out. I'm gonna get the gasket changed and oil changed tomorrow and if its still making the noise I know it's not the OSG...I'm thinking its just suspension of something but I'd rather not risk my diff so I'll just get it done for ease of mind.

Okay - there's a $1500 disposal fee.

I just installed a Nismo diff in my 05 but did not change the rear diff mount at the time and the rear diff mount is shot. My car makes almost the same noise that your does but it is from the blown rear diff mount letting the diff rock back and forth when you get on and off of the gas. So if the leaking you are seeing is from the rear mount then the clunking is most likely the diff housing moving.

Well by the time I saw the fluid it was on the bottom of the diff, dripping down the diff cover and even some on the exhaust, so I'm not sure where the leaking started. I wanted SPL diff bushings, maybe I gotta get them before I thought lol.

So I've been looking around, maybe I'm starting to get axle click?

^ Axle click doesn't sound like that (it's a consistent click that changes rate based on speed). Watching the video, the sound is only present when you're on the throttle (positive acceleration forward), but not on the brakes or when coasting. That is, you only hear it when there's a load on the engine or possibly when the front lifts and the rear squats. I would keep that in mind when you're looking for the sound.
