Title pretty much says it. I'm looking for an in-car camera setup for taping track days and would like to hear about your setup. Or about a setup you've seen.

I went with the home depot special;

Aluminum bar secured to headrests with U-bolts.
Just used this setup last weekend at Infineon with great results.

Looks like nice equipment. The 4 processor one is awesome, but a little pricey.

McGiver special here to to mount on my Avalon racing harness bar. Two 2" U-bolts through a 3"x4" Aluminum plate. 1 bolt with camcorder compatible pitch and I've got a great setup for AutoX.

I use the camcorder's remote to initiate recording while staging and have the display screen facing forward so I can see the picture in the rear-view camera.

When properly aligned, I can see the course, steering input, and a bonus of of the tachometer. It's a great tool for improving driving skill.

Whatever mount you choose, I suggest you mount it to a BCR harness bar!

I would be concerned about the lense's height.

BCR bar is getting near the top of my list Bruce. This month was brutal for expenses. Two track days, R&P, Trans/tow package/header/chip for the Pathy, not to mention the 2 weeks I spent under the b*tch fixing the holes in the heads and top it off with a replacement rear caliper for my Z. I'm broke for a little bit. :-(

BCR/Seat/harness and camera setup is next up. Oh yeah, I'm looking at transponders too. Any suggestions?

Right now I'm looking into cheapy cam setup. Bullet cam with sound and a ZR40 MiniDV video recorder. I can get into the setup for around 300.00. Some of the digital stuff is really cool, but its pricey.

My camera height is perfect with my simple bar attached to the headrests. I also have a zr40 camera.

Easiest setup possible (doesn't mean it's not cool)

Pics of my first camera mount location. This one would be good for turn-in & track-out. I have two other possible mounting locations. One on the windshield wiper post on the driver's side and another under the passenger mirror. I have not completed all of the hardware setup for the other two locations yet though. I plan to run a small piano wire tether on the cam so it doesn't get thrown if the mount comes loose.

For camera, I went with a Sony Ex Bullet Cam w/ 480 lines of resolution and a microphone. Skullcamz.com

For recording, I went with a portable MINI DVR. (dgital video recorder) http://www.pimall.com/nais/dvr6.html

Some pictures.

The DVR records 45 minutes of highest resolution or 3 hours of low resolution video onto a 512mb compact flash or SD card. File comes out *.asf and ready to go into the computer.

Also, came up with a fourth location to think about. The rear wiper stud for rear facing applications.
