Since the thread was bumped I read it and this was very funny to me.

Thanks for a good post-only problem I'm having is that the bulb housing may have warped over time-I got an '04-might be able to extend the little tab that sticks out(the little tab that's on the opposite side of the v-shaped clip on the housing-I might get a little piece of hard plastic+crazy glue it on the bottom of the little tab to make it work-it's just not secure as it was before-

It's nice and easy to do, but looked like some people had some very dim LED's back when this thread was created.

Just did mine, looks great

Just an FYI, you don't actually need a flat head to pry open the housing. It was designed to pop out if you push it to the right and pull.

I swapped out my entire light housings for pre-builds with 16 white led's in each. Lights up the entire back of the car now. Only got pulled over once. Cop said I was illuminating my license TOO well. I never removed the bulbs, just went by to get the fix-it ticket cleared in broad daylight and they cleared it.

I've had LEDs in mine for several years, but went with the dimmest white ones I could find. Similar to original bulbs, but whiter. No point in attracting attention or making the rear plate too easy to see, As an aside, I would never be stupid enough to tint heads, tails, signals, reverse lights, etc.
