i was wondering if you could use this **** it's a momo shadow shift **** btw.

also, will there be any problems since you shift down to shift the gears? i think this mod is fantastic but i'm worried that there may be long term setbacks if i decide to go forth with this. any replies would be welcomed, thanks.

You need a **** with a button/trigger of some sort. That won't work.

Make sure the gear is firmly in "park" and it should be good.

A couple of quick questions, I got a Momo boot and Shift ****, want to do this over the weekend:

1. I have an 08, any idea if this will affect the warranty in any way?
2. the momo shift **** has a silver collet at the bottom, if you remove that the boot seems to screw directly onto the shift ****, have people removed this collet?
3. Can the center console silver ring be lifted just enough to tuck the boot inside without having to remove the entire thing out? My boot has elastic on the bottom and is 26 cm long (so longer than your typical one), I want the folded shift boot look so want to keep the length, will this work?
4.. If for some reason I am unsuccessful in getting a good fit, is it easy to put things back the way they originally were?

Should not affect the warranty on other parts, but if something were to happen to say the mechanizim there at the shifter like any parts inside break, mostly like they will not cover that under any warranty. But i wouldnt really worry about anything.
2. the momo shift **** has a silver collet at the bottom, if you remove that the boot seems to screw directly onto the shift ****, have people removed this collet?
Yes, since you has a momo shift boot it have a threaded adaptor that the shift know can screw in, so you will remove the collet on the bottom of the shift ****
3. Can the center console silver ring be lifted just enough to tuck the boot inside without having to remove the entire thing out? My boot has elastic on the bottom and is 26 cm long (so longer than your typical one), I want the folded shift boot look so want to keep the length, will this work?
im not sure how the 08 center consoule is set up, but on my 04 i had to remove the sliver ring and put the boot on, put it is very tricky to get the sliver ring on. I have to modify part of the center black mechanizim and the sliver ring is a tight fit, but i would not force it because you may break some tabs on the inside.
4.. If for some reason I am unsuccessful in getting a good fit, is it easy to put things back the way they originally were?
as i said in #3, but if the boot does want to work well and you dont want to risk it, you can put every thing back the way it originally was.

Hope i helped answer some of your questions

Thanks James this is SO HELPFUL, just a couple of followup questions:

1. The plastic round trim **** that comes with the MOMO, how do you know which one to use and where to put it, I can see in the pics where you have put it and will try to copy
2. The Blue extender, once you remove this can it easily be put back in case the round trim doesnt fit properly
3. Did you remove the elastic from you shift boot to tuck it in? The momo shift boot has a elastic expander trim at the bottom.

the part that came with the momo ****, i cant remember whitch one, but you should be able to slide it over the silver shaft. If it is to loose or to tight those most likely are not it. From recalling, i think it was the one that was snug fit.
2. The Blue extender, once you remove this can it easily be put back in case the round trim doesnt fit properly
Yes you can still put the blue part back in if you are not able to get the momo to fit.

Yes i trimed off the elastic, because it got in the way under neath were the silver ring trim fits into

Sorry James, I have a few followup questions. I completed the install and it looks sweet. However:

1. Did you cut the plastic momo round fitment piece, it seems to be closed on one end so I didnt understand how to use it unless i made it hollow and slid it through the steel shaft of the gear?

2. I dont understand the purpose of the momo piece as the way the momo shift **** works, even if you position it anywhere on the gear shaft, it will be loose but you can tighten it with the screws and hex wrench so why would you need the piece?

3. Did you use all 3 hex screws to tighten the momo shift ****?

4. Were you able to get your silver collet trimming completely flat and back on? I trimmed the shift boot, and putting the silver trimming was a pain, in fact I had to force it on with taps and it finally got on, I heard a little rattle so I might have broken something but scared to check but when I look horizontally I can see the silver collet is not 100% flat on the round surface, its about 1-2mm elevated.

5. IS there any reason the car would be revving a little more if I installed the shift **** incorrectly? Maybe Im imagining things but after I installed the shift **** and tested it, it worked fine but on park mode it seemed the car was at a higher idle rpm than usual. I would think this has nothing to do with the shift **** because if the odomoter says park its on park right?

THANKS

Ok, So I went through the whole how to with the momo Shift **** thread and could not find where this question was answered...

How do you get the shift **** to not be loose? I have removed the blue piece and inserted a rubber thing all the way up and sat it on the metal piece and now its wobbly...and I have 2 types of plastic screws and a allen wrench.

Anyone, know what I need to do next? how to tighten it up and what else?

Are you supposed to cut the one end? I dont want to F anything up either!

Also, I ordered a boot from http://www.redlinegoods.com/ and its such a tight fit I cant get the silver ring to go back down...

What should I do to fix this? Thanks

Hi, the way I made mine tight was to look for the hole in the center of the gear shaft, there is a small round hole. I positioned by shift **** front hole right on top of it and put the hex screw firmly in that position, once I tightened that piece, I inserted the other 2 hex screws on each side of the shift **** and I got a tight fit.

On your other question, I got a momo shift boot but the key is not to insert the shift boot too much inside, just a 1/4 inch then make sure the silver ring is inserted the same way you took it out (there are grooves that match), I got mine to fit snug but it aint perfect, there is a slight elevation on the silver ring but cant really tell.
