Thumbs up **Cusco Cage install** - Not Fun

Well, when they say it takes a whole day, it certainly does. I started at 8am, and stopped at 2pm only finishing the main hoop and the front parts. The rear two pieces have a bit more investigating involved to find out where they actually go.

Thanks again to West Covina Nissan for helping me get the cage you guys are awesome!!!

The instructions are basically useless, they might as well have written the damn thing in some martian language. The pictures didn't help because the roll cage in the pictures was not a cusco 6pt. lol

Step 1 throw away instructions.

Here are the pics, and of course corona light (i'm watching my calories folks).

I'm going to finish the rear two bars two weeks later when I do my stoptech BBK when it comes in, they are being assembled as we speak.

First get some beer...

Disconnect your battery...

Remove some bolts for your seats...

and...

yup...

Remove your interior plastic panels.

You can either cut your carpet, or have no carpet but you cannot have your carpet in between your cage and the floorboard. I chose to cut my precious carpet.

Put the main hoop in position then install the side beams in the correct position or else if you tighten the main hoop you will not get the other pieces onto the main hoop later.

Put on the bolts with the washers.

Use the backing plates provided with the kit on the underbody of the car. Use the washers and bolts that are also provided, make sure to tighten but not overtighten the bolts. They are 12mm, you can use locktite if you want to be sure but it should be secure.

Once you install everything, it should look like this. Well minus the rear two pieces.

looks good! you could have just cut a flap instead of cutting the carpet out. Do you really need to pull that many interior pieces? How much for the kit?

To the folks who are asking if I needed to take the interior pieces out. Here is your answer. The main hoop had no way of getting in. The only way to get that thing in there was to take every damn interior piece out. When I took one piece out, I realized the main hoop still wouldn't fit so I had to take more pieces out. By the time I realized what needed to be done everything was out.

Also, I drank the beer when it was cold yum.

I have one problem though. The seat belt mechanism is in the way of the main hoop, so it doesnt recoil correctly. I need to fix this function because frankly I have my stock seats.

Umm, Cages are required when you run certain times at the strip, cages save your life in roll overs, ect.

i googled for pricing online and noticed that all of them say you will need to cut into the dash? Did you install yours in a fashion that did not require the dash modification. Or is this a new version of cusco cage?
