also, you could of just cut the carpet half way and tuck it under so later you can pull that piece out and cover the hole.

These cages aren't really made for SCCA or NHRA mainly because all the joints are bolted together. A certified cage must be welded for SCCA plus it has to have a side bar. Someone posted the rules in a different thread. You can also convert it by welding all the joints.
It's main purpose is for roll-over safety obviously, stiffens up the chasis, and looks cool.

Thanks again to West Covina Nissan for helping me get the cage you guys are awesome!!!
The instructions are basically useless, they might as well have written the damn thing in some martian language. The pictures didn't help because the roll cage in the pictures was not a cusco 6pt. lol
Step 1 throw away instructions.
Here are the pics, and of course corona light (i'm watching my calories folks).
I'm going to finish the rear two bars two weeks later when I do my stoptech BBK when it comes in, they are being assembled as we speak.
First get some beer...
Disconnect your battery...
Remove some bolts for your seats...
and...
yup...
get more beer...
Remove your interior plastic panels.
You can either cut your carpet, or have no carpet but you cannot have your carpet in between your cage and the floorboard. I chose to cut my precious carpet.
get more beer...
Put the main hoop in position then install the side beams in the correct position or else if you tighten the main hoop you will not get the other pieces onto the main hoop later.
Put on the bolts with the washers.
get more beer...
Use the backing plates provided with the kit on the underbody of the car. Use the washers and bolts that are also provided, make sure to tighten but not overtighten the bolts. They are 12mm, you can use locktite if you want to be sure but it should be secure.
get more beer...
Once you install everything, it should look like this. Well minus the rear two pieces.

Getting it ready for some willow springs action. Yes road racing to be exact.
Waiting for the BBK.

You don't have to have a harness/racing seat. OEM seat belt works fine as long as you have roll cage padding. There is a lot of room inside actually.

It is clear to me that all the people wondering why anyone would need a roll cage really don't understand that it's not always the driver's fault in a huge collision. The semi-truck example was a great way to explain it. I think it is important for anyone to install a roll cage, and I probably would use something simple like this one when I end up doing so.
97SUPRATT your car kinda reminds me of the new GT3 RS, stripped out some amenities like the OEM steering wheel and added the roll cage, now you need seats.

Padding will save your head, and get the good stuff (foam covered in cloth)
When i rolled my jeep at about 5mp going up and over a rock ledge i was sure happy i had padding!
As for the set up, mad props to ya for doing this yourself. It's looks great and serves a good purpose, cause you can never have enough safty!
Does this kit also come with a harness bar for a 5 point belt?
Cheers
