Did the front half of mine as well yesterday. FYI for anyone else interested in this, if you have Nazar (or similar) door pods, you will not be able to put the cage in without removing them.

We did not remove any panels or carpet to install the cage. We did have to cut a couple of holes in the carpet, but that's about it so far. Also there are large pieces of foam underneath the driver and passenger footwell carpet that have to be removed in order to attach the cage to the floor.

Yes, definitely looks very good. Couple questions...

Why not remove the part of the sound deadening where the hoop bolts in?
Is this cage designed primairly for cosmetics? How many holes did you have to drill @ each mounting location?
I'm still searching for the most purposeful cage that gives my large azz some room to sit.

Not sure what you mean by the first question.

There are 3 bolts per mount on the rear, 4 bolts at each point on the main hoop, and 3 bolts at each point in the front.

What I mean is that he specifically mentioned that the carpet could not be under the metal, however, the sound deadening material can be?

No. Nothing can be in between the metal. The cage has to be sitting flush against the floorboard and on the bottom of the car you have the backing plate holding it steady. The bolts really aren't long enough to have anything in between.

Curious. In this picture you posted, it sure seems that the sound deadening material is still there, under two bolts...

You'd have a hell of a time removing that stuff. When he says sound deadening, he is referring to the more loose material that can be removed easier.

Exactly.

That stuff is stuck on there like glue. You have to use dry ice and a ice pick to get it off.

The sound deadening stuff I was talking about was the soft cushion material under the carpet.

Okay, gotcha.

Yeah, I know how NOT fun it is to remove the sticky stuff. One heat gun + scraper + toxic fumes + 5 hours is what it took to remove all of it from our last race car.

i researched the autopower roll bars and all I found were that the rollbar's that they had were welding required. So kirk is direct bolt in?
