Well member, I was a little bored tonight so I decided to make a trip to Home Depot and bought some material to make a shift **** for my Z. My goal was to make it similar to the Nismo type shift *****. All in all, it was fun fabricating them. They just need a few more hours on them to be finished off an polished.

Well here goes.

Bought a 1 inch diameter pipe as well as a 1/2 inch pipe. a few 10mm-1.25 nuts and bolt, some washers a few hours of welding and grinding The bolt was used just to align the two nuts so that i can weld them together correctly.



welded the nuts together with the washer, then welded the combo to the 1/2 inch pipe. This will be the thing that actually screws onto the shifter.




cut the one inch pipe to length


then basically insert the 1/2inch pipe with nuts and washers combo into the 1 inch pipe and sealed it off with a washer on top





filled in the washer with welds and grind it down a bit



now i just have to finish them off a bit. They are both a little ruff, but a little more grinding and sanding then polishing and they should look pretty nifty. you can see the side by side comparison of both of them. The longer one is closer to being finished as you can see, but they both went through the same process to be created.

Decided to paint it black rather than polishing it. Black matches my interior better.

 

always fun to make your own stuff, but... I don't know.

def. not liking the sticker on top. and the paint is very peely... if it was glossier and smoother I think it would look more finished. or maybe powdercoated kudos

 

+1 on the powder coating, but looks good nun the less
