Just installed hotchkis springs
I just intalled them over the weekend. These are the published specs:
Made from cold wound silicon steel, springs are linear rate, and are powder coated seabring silver.
Front Front 9/16" (15mm) Drop
340 lbs/in
Stock 310lbs/in
Rear 3/4" (19mm) Drop
330 lbs/in
Stock 350 lbs/in
From what I've noticed, the front and rear Hotchkis springs were substantially heavier, probably more than 50% heavier than the oem's. There are approx 8 coils to the oem's 5, and steel coil is definitely thicker.
I can't understand why hotchkis' published spring rate is so similar to the oem's, yet the actual spring seems to be so much more robust. Are all the other springs like this? If I had known these spring were going add another 20lbs+ total, I would have seriously considered the RSR Titanium springs.
On another note, the ride seems only marginally stiffer. The drop is perfect for me.

the reason the published spring rates are so similar is the hotchkies spring rate is linear for the whole spring, while the rate it is compared to for the stock spring is only at the end of the spring compression, since it is a progressive (i think that's the right term) spring. so without being too much stiffer it still provides increased performance.
i was also surprised of the weight of the hotchkies, and also thought about selling them and getting the rsr titanium spring instead, but i was too lazy to deal with the hassle.
