Default True/False - Rotors need to be mounted to car to be surfaced on z33

I was told by the dealership today that they have to surface the rotors, while it is mounted to the car still. Can anyone validate if this is true or not?

Btw, this is the non-brembo brake kit on a touring model. I would imagine that if the brembo didn't, the std one wouldn't either.

false, Ive had the stock non brembo rotors turned at a machine shop no problem. Unless they dont have the proper tools to do it with the rotor off the car.

If your dealer only has a portable lathe that turns rotors while on the car, it makes sense that they would tell you that - ha! The rotors can be turned either way - on the car or off if they have the equipment. Either way will do the job.
