Is there a 17" wheel that can go over 14" stoptechs?

Offset has nothing to do with brake clearance. Technically it is called backspacing that determines brake clearance.

it's the same thing...

wheel centerline + offset = backspace

you are right, offset does not necessarily determine brake clearance... but neither does backspace.

for example, these 2 wheels have same offset(same backspacing)... one will clear brakes, the other will have huge issues..

Image A is exactly what I was describing doing by using a high offset wheel with a spacer... to make more "backspace" / Pad Height...

I don't drive a Z. I have a widebody 1997 Nissan 240SX (S14.5).

275/40/17 Toyo RA-1's are going all-around, unless the Toyo R888 comes out sooner.

This is my circuit setup.

the fittment for the 240 kits are different then the 350Z kit...

they only have a 13" kit for the front of the S13 / S14...

The Z32 14" kit fits the 240SX and uses the same sized pistons so brake proportioning is unaffected, I already checked with Jeff Ritter.

yeah... are you running a Z32 master cylinder?

The Z32 kit's caliper sticks out .16" LESS then the Z33 towards the spokes... So the pad height has to be a little more for the Z33

Same overall diameter though...

The template is different for the Z32 14.1" kit then the 350Z 14.1" kit...

There has to be .16" more pad height for the Z33 kit...

You can put a wheel that will fit on the Z32 kit but will not fit over the Z33 kit...

I understand

.16" is insanely small though... It would really really have to be a tight fit on a Z32 not to fit a Z33

ive seen Z32's with brake kits under the stock wheels that have literally just under 2mm of clearance of pad height...

Order these wheels from HopUpRacing for the best prices and service.

Victor,

We ran the template test for FN01RC. The following are the results:

1780 +25 15 MM Space from Brake to Inner wall of wheel
1780 +35 12 MM Same
1790 +15 13 MM Same
1790 +35 12 MM Same
1710 +12 14 MM Same
1710 +35 13 MM Same

All wheels clear the space (At least 12 MM) between the Brake and Spoke Inner wall.

We also certified 1885+35, 1895+35, 1895+12 & 1895+22 will all clear big caliper brake including Brembo.

Hope above infor will help your club in finding the proper wheels.

If you want us to check the Pro Racer GN+ line, we will do so for you.

B. Rgds,

John Hsieh

We want to see them on your car first, haha. Too bad I already bought OEM 18"s and racing rubber, but $850 for wheels and racing rubber is hard to beat.

I have a feeling those measurements are not correct. I just looked my 17x8 FN01R-C's today with my 13" STOPTECH's and they had about the same amount of clearance that John sent. I double checked and I did send him the 14" template. I will find out soon enough once the wheel gets here though and I test the template myself.

don't forget to measure the template and make sure the dimensions printed as they should be...

I have around 16mm clearance with 18" wheels... and my wilwood 14" has ATLEAST 10mm better clearance than stoptech's.

Quick Reply: Is there a 17" wheel that can go over 14" stoptechs?
