Default Is there a 17" wheel that can go over 14" stoptechs?

Stupid me...I purchased 14" stoptechs instead of 13". Now, I'm going to pay through the nose when I move onto RA-1's. So...I was wondering if anybody has found a 17" wheel that can clear 14" rotors.

Yes. There is someone on this board that has a set of 17"s that fit over the 14" Stoptechs. He said his 17"s fit but a set of 18"s he had didn't fit. I believe the 17"s were Enkei and offset is the key. If you can't afford the 18" R rubber than maybe track weekends wouldn't be the best thing to start doing as they can get awfully expensive awfully quick.

A set of R-comps will run almost $400 more for 18's vs. 17's. Driving on the track is very expensive, and that's why I need to look into cost cutting measures like this. I can afford 18's, but why throw away money?

Well purchasing another set of wheels will cost extra too. Anyways, I just got a set of Dunlop SP Super Sport Race from tirerack.com . Right now they only have 18" and they range from $115 to $120 per tire. I haven't gotten to run them yet, but to me they are a very affordable 18" R compound tire. Check it out:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....per+Sport+Race

They aren't as sticky as say the Hoosiers but they will give me enough grip and long life to save cost. I have the 14" Stoptechs and I prefered buying OEM 18" Tourings then finding an aftermarket 17" wheel but its up to you.

I'd really like to find out what this 17" wheel was that fit over 14" STOPTECH's.

Whoa...that's pretty inexpensive. They must be discontinuing those...I'd probably prefer a 40 series tire, but that's a hard price to beat. Let us know how you like them.

what are some 17" wheels with good clerance? (or which 17" wheel has the best known clearance).

Might be interesting to build a brake/wheel clearance thread...

So for a 17" wheel to fit, what would the most important factor be?

The wheel's inner diameter?

Offset shouldn't be an issue since there are always ranges of offsets to choose from and if not spacers can be brought into the equation.

Wasn't it one of the Performance Nissan cars that had the Enkei wheels that fit? Also, the 13" stoptech would have been a little cheaper, is there no way to work with the vendor to get the 17s instead?

Thank You so much. A quick search reveals that it was him.

5Zigen FN01R-C's fit over 14" brakes. That's awesome cause I already have this wheel.

Problem is that those rotora have way better clearance than the stoptechs (which are 14.1" I believe).

But RickDogg says later in the thread that STOPTECH calipers are bigger so they won't clear. His Rotoras sit lower.

Then it must be someone else. I know it was someone with Stoptechs.

Quick Reply: Is there a 17" wheel that can go over 14" stoptechs?
