Default Big Brake q? scary moment...

So yea base model brakes suck... my car will only do about 4 laps at my local track and the brakes start to fade... i had a scary offroad excursion thorugh the outskirts of the track this weekend... so i am definately getting a Big Brake kit now.

What is the best bang for the buck Big Brake Kit? Im pretty sure it would be the wilwood arizonazcar.com one for 1400 its a 13" 6-pot kit. Besides this im guessing other wilwood kits might be good.

Has anyone here had previous experience with wilwood at the track? looking for some input on these...

What other good quality not so expensive kits are there out there? Besides maybe Rotora or Stop-tech?

Thanks.
Jose.

I tracked my car all summer on BrakeZone's 14"(355mm) wilwood Kit without any issues. Pedal feel and modulation is excellent, never even close to fade even on extended lap sessions. and best thing is that it drives on the street like the stock brakes.

I did both front and rear... couldn't be happier.

Wow, those are nice prices. Front and rear together $2200!

Default Check out 350zbrakes.com

I have two years on my Wilwood 6 pot front and 4 pot rears with 13.6" rotors. I track it every month year round. I did have to change rotors in the front because I warpped them with the temperature. I have run it up to 104 degrees ambient air days with no fade. Russel has provided me excellent service and spare parts for rotors hats and brackets when I strip a bolt and amage a bracket. I have been very happy with his service and his kit design.

Do you guys use front drilledor slotted rotors?

Will the the front 13" 6pot with the slotted rotors be enough? Im afraid i might even be able to see some fade with this... arizonazcar.com does not sell their kit with drilled rotors, and Brakezone is currently down..

Well, if you get fade with that setup, you are doing something wrong.

Many HPDE instructors have pretty extensive mods (full suspension and slicks) to their Z and are still running the OEM Brembo... (11" discs)

Stay away of drilled discs. Slots are cute, but only usefull if you experience pad fade. I recommend plain discs with dedicated track pads.

Jose,

You can get a StopTech 13.1" four piston front BBK in $1,500 to $1,600 range if you shop around. I can't vouch for the other BBKs but StopTech makes a good kit. Also the front kit is really all you need unless you are doing alot a tracking your car.

Our 332mm Front BBK will do the trick nicely. It retails for $1995, and fits under all of the stock wheels, including the 17's on the base and enthusiast models. I run this kit on my car at the track constantly (as do many, many other Z owners)...as does Unitech Racing on their 350Z in Grand Am Cup pro racing. It's the best bang for the buck out there. Bolts on perfectly, no shimming, 25 different street and race brake pads to choose from, customer support always a phone call a way, reasonable prices on replacement parts. Consider the whole package and long-term ownership when shopping for a brake kit, not just what has the cheapest price on initial purchase. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches by doing so.

I think the stock brembos are 12.8 front and 12.7 rear.

I was refering to his second post (the one quoted in my reply), where he says he's affraid of still having fade issues with a 13" 6pots BBK...
