Default Brakes - pads & rotors - advice needed

I just took my 05 touring non-brembo for an inspection - 20K miles - and the guy is telling me that my front pads are warped. Less than 1mm to go... What really surprised me was that the front rotors were also dead - they can't even be resurfaced... Is this normal? What are my chances of convincing the dealer to get this under warranty? I don't do heavy performance stuff, it's my everyday car.

I'd also appreciate advice on aftermarket pads and rotors - if I have to get new ones, I don't wanna go with stock . Main goals - everyday driving, firmer feel.

Thanks!

brakes are wear items...
very hard to get warranty on those...
Everyday car - EBC Greenstuff, Hawk HPS or even NISMO for pads
Rotor... EBC, Brembo, Stoptech set ups are very good...
Check the rears... good brake balance is crucial for good stopping power!

do you brake really hard or something? or keep your pads until they are metal on metal? rotors can be resurfaced more than once (even though i replace my rotors after one resurface job). you wont get this done under warranty as i dont think brakes rotors and brake pads are covered under warranty, thats part of normal wear and tear. and when you get new pads get ceramic pads, less heat, lasts longer and not as much brake dust on your rims like semi metallic or organic. im not too in light with aftermarket brakes but i hear hawk is pretty good as is brembo. but i know you are gonna have to get bigger rotors and such. but dont quote me on it, im no brake expert.

yeah... i plan to get the EBC Redstuff since they have good racing compounds but it is said to be still livable for street driving...
My mother choice was project mu but they cost a bit more...
Anyway... all are good choices...
just NOT stock pads... they are #terrible

I had them on my old brakes, I will be switching to them with my brembos when I need new pads.

...
I think the economic cost of upping brake components if the trim is non-brembo would be ineffective ... imo new pads, rotors and lines would be like 500... then new stoptech fronts you can get for 1800...
1300 dollars for a world's difference...

not much into the stop techs. I have driven those and then I have driven the APs and the APs are FAR superior

if you don't go to track and the Z is your daily driver, i would think twice before i replace the stock pads with high performance racing pads cuz they are meant to operate at higher temperatures at the track and you wouldn't appreciate the increased stopping distance on the streets.....believe me, been there done that....
