like the title says im replacing my brake pads and i hav 2 questions. will i need a tool to spin the piston back down or will i be able to push it straight in. the next thing is, is it a must to have the rotors resurfaced or is it just a good idea? i do have the brembo setup on my G....thanks for the help!!!!
i doubt youll be able to push it by hand.
here's my advice:
1. i use pliers (opened it outward with the nose inside the pads- ie if i were to close it, it would grip the rotor)
2. be VERY careful about the paint on the calipers. do not grip them with tools or anything unless theyre very well protected with soft cloth. the paint will come off very easily. dont position yourself so you're in a situation where if you slipped or a tool slipped, the caliper would get hit.
3. no need to resurface if your pads are the same kind. i even switched from oem to hawk and didnt resurface and, despite ending up with darker colored rotors, everything was ok.
4. be patient when pushing in the calipers. apply force and look for the movements. if you see it start to move, just keep the force there. it wont go in immidiately and will take several seconds.

thanks for the heads up.....im gonna use the C clamp to compress the piston back into the caliper but now i know ill have to cover it very well as to not scratch the paint.
