Default Brake pads

I need some new brake pads. I have searched the forum and found three brake pads that everyone seems to recommend:

ENDLESS Vita Nuova
Project U B-Force Pads
Project U NS Street Pads

My car is a daily driver, so I am looking for low dust, low noise, and not to harsh on the rotors, but I want them to stop good, stopping ability is probably one of the more important things! .

Which of these 3 would work best for me?

BTW its a 2003 Touring (so NON-BREMBO).

Thanks !

Project Mu are good but kind of expenisve if this is your daily driver. Have you looked into the Axxis Ultimates?

I have Hawk HPS. They can be had at Pep Boys for about $60 and have very low dust! I love them! Stop great, no noise!

Actually, if you check out the prices we have, the pads really aren't that expensive for his application. Opinions wise, I really have had great luck with Endless and Project U brake pads on and off track. If you're looking for some daily driving with light twisty runs here and there, I'd highly recommend Endless Vita Nuova's as they're awesome pads. With some slightly more aggressive driving, I'd go with Project U NS pads and then some B-Force pads. With Project U and Endless having all sorts of applications for any type of driving style, you'll always find a right set of pads and will not be disappointed. With strict MAP pricing enforced, call me a great deal!

so your saying in terms of agressiveness from least agressive to most its

Endless Vita Nuova
Project U NS
Project B-Force

Would the B-Force be hard on rotors? Do the Vita Vuova stop better than stock?

Thanks!

Well, the Vita Nuova's and NS would be awesome street pads. But the VN's are a little bit less aggressive when you look at the spec sheet compared to the other two pads. The thing is, I've been through the mountains on a stock 350Z with VN's and they far exceeded my expectations. One of the reasons why I later chose to put their Racing brake kit on my car.
All the pads I listed are definitely not hard on the rotors. I can even suggest more aggressive pads from Endless that are still rotor-friendly. Let me know!

I am interested in these three pads as well... glad I found this thread.

I seems the most expensive ones are the endless at almost 200 a set. The least expensive are the NS at about 130 a set.

How is the dust and noise on these 3? I want more agressive than stock, with hopefully less noise and dust.

Also, do they all require a bedding process or no? Ive never had to bed in brake pads before.

Every set of pads you get should be bedded in properly. It's not required per se to bed any brake pads, but it's highly recommended. This way, you'll see a slight improvement in pad life and maybe performance. If I may steal a link from Stoptech...

http://stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedincontents.shtml

They have a wonderful section all about bedding in and other neat little tidbits on brakes.

The dust and noise on the Endless and Project U pads are not really anything to worry about. The street pads will definitely be quieter than the more aggressive ones of course, but none of them are loud pads at all. The VN and NS would probably be the best choice for rain/cold as their initial bite is really good. Here's a little chart for the Vita Nuova's.

Unfortunately, I can't express how nice Endless and Project U pads are. The pads I have on my bbk are Endless SSS but once they wear out, I really wanna try their CCA as everyone I sell those to are all raving about them. Here's a chart of the SSS.

Again, just shoot me an email (brianw@perfnissan.com) or give me a call anytime for better pricing on Endless stuff.

Great info on bedding in that link, but they did mention a few times "when using new rotors and pads" ... now I wasn't planning on changing my rotors... do I need to?

Well, it all depends on the condition of your rotors. You might have to turn them or if they can't be saved, it'll be time to get new rotors! http://mynismo.com/products/?id=3292 or call for Stoptech prices!

Is there any way to tell if my rotors are going to need to be replaced without taking them in somewhere?

Look at the disc face to see if there are a high number of concentric circles on it. If the rotor is cool, rub your finger from the inside out. Look for any deep grooves or an uneven surface. If the surface is overly rough or uneven, its a good sign to replace the rotor.

Buy one of these

There is enough space on 18" stock rims to fit between the spokes to take a measurement without taking off the wheel.
