Squeaky Brakes?
I got my 03 Touring Z like 6 months ago with 10k Miles. I have 22k miles now and the brakes just started to squeak very loudly last night. Each time i brake theres a 1/3 chance at higher speeds (50+ mph) and lower speeds (20- mph)
I know my brakes aren't too old, only being 22k miles
Can anyone chime in?
I read searches and came up with:
S1AMEZE:
Sounds like an uneven rotor... Maybe a bad diagnosis, but if it's happening from one wheel and at a rotational occurance point on the rotor, then I'd say that's probably it. The dealership may want to re-surface the rotor, but if possible, get it replaced. If the cost is outragous, then look at upgrading the rotors (front or all 4). Stoptech or power slots work really well on the 03's and go nicely with a set of hawk pads...
Z_freak:
sounds like your rotors and pads are glazed, you have one of two options.....take it back and have the dealership re-surface your rotors and rough out your pads, or jack your car up, remove the wheels and take some 50 grit sandpaper to your rotors and pads(which you have to remove)....brakes will glaze if they are heated quickly and then slammed on when they are new.........

Pads. It is actualy the pad indicator. when a pad is worn down there is this little metal clip that scraps against the rotor that tells you its time to change the pads.

Probably time for new pads / rotors...
The stock pads are squeeky and dusty to begin with...

I would recommend the OE Upgrade Kits - Stop Tech Stage 2 which comes with new pads / rotors / lines / fluid...
If anything, new rotors (Stop TEch Slotted is what I prefer) and Hawk HPS or Axxis Ultimate Pads...
