Default Cerramic brake pads, etc.

Does anyone know if ceramic brake pads are available for the Z? Where?

Can the stock rotors be cross drilled? If not who sells an inexpensive one for a daily driver?

Can adherant pad material be removed with steel wool or solvent?

Are the Hawk HPS pads really a low dust pad? Is there another lower dust pad reccomended?

Wheel wax only protects so much. A lot for one post, I know but

Inquiring minds need to know. Thanks!

Can adherant pad material be removed with steel wool or solvent? What are you trying to do ? Simplest way is the do a proper bed-in. Use some sanding paper if you must. No aluminium compounds.

Car has 30K and brakes and rotors are fine. I want to switch to ceramic pads to reduce/eliminate the dust. I can't afford new rotors, espesially when the OEMs are still good. Didn't want to put new pads on rotors with adherant brake material on them (a natural occurance) but didn't want to get tham turned and sacrifice thickness, thus the question how can the adherant brake material be safely removed. Tire Rack is a great resource. The Akebonmo Pro Act Ceramic pads looked good (got good reviews, good price) but wanted another opinion on the rotors from someone not trying to sell me something. The cross drilling was for addditional cooling but not neccesary for the street and a bad idea due to possible cracking (per Tire Rack). Thanks!

Good.

Just get new pads and bed them in properly. The old pad's material will be replaced within a week or so.

Decided to go with the Akebono Pro Act Ceramic brakes from Tire Rack. They said that I could use a "Scotchbrite" pad to clean my stock rotors. Thanks for the info on bedding in new brakes.

Zincognito - Are they ceramic pads? Where do you get these EBC green stuff pads? Anyone else use these to reduce dust? Can you recommend a link with reviews, ie. Tire Rack, etc? Thanks!
