Default Sway bar settings

My question is in three parts. I just bought the 4 hole front 3 hole rear hotchkis sway bar kit, i dont care about street civility. whats the best combination to start with? I have the stock 225/245 set up. will the same settings work when i put on a 245/275 combo. And finaly do you think that the sways will clear a Invidia N1 exhaust. thank you.

I'm using the front sway only with it set to the 3rd stiffest setting. That seems to be the most popular among the autocrossers and track guys here. You'll find some people running the max stiffness in the front.

I've run mine on both stock wheels and tires (225/245 18") and with my aftermarket wheels and tires (255/35/19 285/35/19).

Yeah that seems good i was thinking of going full stiff or middle in the back, cuz thats how cuscos bars are. maby ill do full stiff fron and mid rear.....You also just convinced me to put 285/255 on instead of 275 245

Remember a sway bar works by REDUCING the traction on the end where it is applied. The front of a RWD car has the lowest traction curve because the tires have the most static weight..........the front static weight is 80% of max tire load rating and thus is in the non linear part of the friction curve.

When cornering easy for front tires to momentarily see transfer loads which EXCEED the max load of the tire.

Rear tires being much lighter loaded can utilize a fully stiff after market bar and throw away traction until you reach neutral steering.

Power on acceleration is another different case why rears are wider to try to maintain some extra sideways grip to minimize oversteer. Wider rears stiffer bars.

I have my 4 hole/3 hole Hotchkis bars on next ro stiffest front and middle rear on my G35 coupe. It seems to have a lot more oversteer now. In other words, it feels like the car wants to turn in more than the steering wheel directs it to do.

I think I'll get to weakest front and stay middle in the rear.

How many degrees of steering............under/oversteer is specified in excess or less degrees vs the front tire angle AT X amount of lateral G load ............or roll degree inches.

Consider that 90 degrees on a steering wheel may only turn the tire 7-8 degrees.........so each 10 degrees on the wheel is 0.75 degrees on the tire.

Stiffer front = more toward understeer.

When I take a circular freeway on ramp, it seems like the rear wants to drift around to the front. It didn't do that before I put the sways on.

Under acceleration, deceleration or constant speed? When you accelerate while turning the rear tires must SHARE.

Are tires oem soft and fastest wearing [highest friction]?

To reduce understeer you stiffen the front or soften the rear.

start at the middle settings on both bars, drive on a road you are familiar with, and go from there. Tire pressure has a huge impact on swaybar settings as well...you can dial in and out understeer with tire pressure as well, so the two go hand in hand

i think you have that backward, if if you stiffin the front then you will have more understeer

drift corners - the front is 4 way adjustable - +22%, +48%, +82%, +129% - the second setting in is closest to 50% of the max setting of the bar, so that is what I meant

for the rear, use the middle setting

It's under constant speed. The tires are BFG KDW2's at 36 psi each.

This is on my G35 coupe, on 350Z S-Techs and Tokico D-Spec shocks set at 5 clicks from stiffest.

The front bar is in its next to stiffest setting out of the four. I'll move it one hole less stiff.
