Default Is compression rod = front arm?

Hi,

My Z is making loud clunking noises when I go over a bump or swirve suddenly. My mechanic took apart my front suspension and found out that the compression rod's rubber bushing is all torned up... So, I'm trying to locate a replacement bushing at the performancenissanparts.com, but it seems as though they don't sell only the bushing for the compression rod. In the Z manual page FSU9, it is called a compression rod, but seems like this part has many names. On performancenissanparts.com I believe they call it the front arm. Do I really have to replace the entire compression rod or can I get the bushing only?

Thanks in advance.

Jay

I'm having the same problem. I just installed a set of Tanabe NF 210 springs and starting having the same noise. I was thinking it comes from part #14 on your pic. Are you sure is not coming from the same place? I'll check your part # as well to see if it might be coming from there. Annoying noise that we can specially hear on a underground garage.

I do have Hotchkis sways and just readjusted the end link (#14) to the weakest hole. I found many threads about Hotchkis sway making clunking noise... I'm gonna regrease and move back the end link position and see what happens.

Besides this.. bushing getting torned up isn't good either, so I'm looking to replace this as well.

How do we grease that bushings? Do you take apart, grease and put it back? Please let me know as I'll try that on friday.
* What kind of grease do you use? Spray?

Funny... I JUST bought one. Yes, you MUST change the WHOLE piece out. It's not hard at all. You might not have a big enough socket to take all the nuts off, but if you do (or when you buy them), it really only takes about an hour. Feel free to PM me for any questions or i'll give you my number and walk you through it over the phone. Tell you what size sockets you need and stuff. It's a simple job so i recomend you get your hands dirty and skip taking it to a shop.

Here is where i bought mine. #14 is the piece you are talking about.

However, you MUST buy #3 as well. "Lower seat back"

I see. So I have to buy the whole thing.. Darn it... Was your Z also making clunking noise because of the bad bushing? I'm not too worried about installing it.. My mechanic already took it apart to inspect it and put it back. Thanks for your help. BTW, your second link is broken. What other part do I need to buy?

Second link not working. What kind of spray are you using? Where did you get it? Do you need to take the bolt that holds the shocks apart?

What do you know... I just switched hotchkis sway position from the weakest to medium as others recommanded and bam, no more clunking noises... I didn't even lube the braces...

I took the link off. I just realized both are in the same pic. #14 and #3 are what you'll need. If that's the part that is actualy causing the noise. No, mine did not make any noise. I was in a front end accident, and the lower control arm was bent like a boomerang. I bought #14 and after trying to instal it, i realized i needed #3 as well. Now it works like a champ.
