Default Front and rear pads - same shape/size?

I have an extra set of rear brake pads. I'm starting to hear a squeal from the front brakes and was wondering if the rear pads will fit in the front.

does anyone know if they will fit/work on the front? I doublt it but wanted to make sure.
Also, is it possible to buy just one set of front pads instead of both left/right front sets at the dealer?

thanks.

nope. the rears are much smaller than the fronts

not sure what you mean with your 2nd Q: but the front left/right pads are the same, the rear left/right are the same...but front to rear are different. (I've never seen any shops/stores sell front pads for just 1 wheel...they always come with pads for both sides) Hope that answers your quesiton

Yes, I was asking if the dealer would sell pads for say just the front left wheel. Hmm... that's too bad. Thanks for the answer though.

Either whoever did the brakes replaced only "as needed" or the front left wore out faster. the front right has about 1/3 life left. the front left's inner pad has about 1/5 left and the wear indicator is sounding off. i know i should really replace both and i will. just wanted to wait for some funds to come through later.

You need to replace pads as a set, left and right.

Replace them in sets. I believe the inner and outer pads are both the same however it's not like you can buy each pad individually anyway...
