Default Brakes Sqeek after new pads installed.

Ok, i have a 04 touring, non-brembro brakes. The pads i installed about 2 months ago are Hawks. Now they are sqeeking under a medium pressure on the peddle. No sqeeking under heavy and light braking. I have anti-sqeek stuff between the shims and pads. Rotors look ok. Anyone have any ideas? or the same proplem? Thanks.

I am thinking about doing the Stoptech upgrade kit, if i cant get my brakes to stop sqeeking.

hey james. I just bought a new z about a month ago. My previous car was a 325, and when I needed new brakes I decided to do the job myself. I do not remember what brand pad I purchased, but I do remember buying the best ones they had. Well, from day one my brakes sqeaked the same as you say applying medium pressure. That was about a year ago and the sqeak never went away. The car was in for service twice, at two different places and I asked them to check the brakes and they both said the reason for the sqeak was because I did not use BMW brand pads. They had no reason to lie to me, as they were independant mechanics. Oh and my rotors were fine too. Maybe you have the same problem???

Did you have your rotors turned before putting on the new pads?
