I paid about $200 for my spring install (Tein s.tech). I got the alignment for about $75... both at TK Performance (Tire Kingdom shop that specializes in aftermarket setups). Check for one of those around you.
You will probably need a camber kit to get back to factory specs, but if you need it or not depends on how bad the camber is and if you can deal with it or not. $3000 for the camber kit or even the camber and toe kit is outrageous. Search through some vendors here and see what you can find.

dude, go down to Sears and pick up a rinky dink tool kit and install them your self. Even if you have had no mechanical experience, you can do this is less than a day. Easy job. I could do the install for all four in less than an hour.

Ryan - man oh man, who did you talk to???
Shoot me a message with your location and I'll see if I can hook you up with someone
Springs on a Z is literally a 2 hour job at most, and you won't need a camber kit
Pm'ing you do it yourself instructions too

My alignment was well within specs after I installed my springs/bars. And I know of many shop owners that will convey the same message. Most of the time, if the drop is less than an inch, alignment not needed.
But feel free to elaborate the technical data you have which states otherwise.

A full coilover kit is less than 3K. Go to another shop, dude.

Here is why.
Cars are like fingerprints - no 2 are the same. We've seen Z's come in that were completely unmodded, from 03's to 06's, that were NOT aligned to factory specs - they drove fine, went straight, had no odd pulls, but never-the-less, they were out of spec. Now, you lower the out of spec car, and guess what? You get more out of spec.
Different scenario - again, all cars being different. You have one brand new Z (in this case, mine) that came off the showroom floor set at max camber and slight front toe in. You take another that came off the showroom floor with -5. degrees front camber and 0 toe. Now you lower both cars using the same spring. Know what happens? The car that started out with more camber and more toe now has even MORE camber and MORE toe than it had before, and since it was already at max settings, it's now technically out of spec. The car that started off with less camber and toe, now also has more negative camber and more toe in (since that is what springs do as a by-product of lowering). Car 2 may or may not be out of spec, and the only way to know is to check.
Keep in mind the above scenarios are all with stock wheels and tires - get some aftermarket wheels and aftermarket tires on at the same time and guess what? Alignment changes yet again (since the alignment is the relationship of the tire, to the ground, not the suspension components to each other).
Now, with respect to camber (and this should be a sticky in big bold red letters since its asked every single day here). Having slightly more camber WILL NOT KILL YOUR TIRES!!!!!!! By slightly, I am talking up to .5 degree more than the max factory setting. Over this and yes, you will notice, over time, slightly more inner tire wear. How much, and how fast it will happen will depend on many variables, including your exact tires, weight of the car, driving habits, tire pressure and so on. However, excessive toe in or out WILL KILL TIRES. Toe is adjustable on the front of the car from the factory, as it is on every car. On the rear, toe is not adjustable, so aftermarket parts, like the awesome SPC camber/toe kit, must be used in order to set the car back to acceptable settings.
So, in short, the ONLY way to tell if your car is within spec before and after you install springs is to check your alignment specs, on a properly calibrated alignment rack, before and after you install springs. It makes no difference if you drop your car 1/3 of an inch or 3 inches - the only way to know the net change is to measure before and after. Anything short of doing that, is at best, a guess. Anyone who tells you "it will be fine, you won't need an alignment" is not being truthful, period, end of story.
Hope that clears it up
Adam
