Default Spring install help/question

I'm in the process of installing my s-techs and I got the rear ones done, but the front ones are somewhat confusing. I read TUTs that say I have to remove the strut bar bolts (4) to access the shock/spring assembly, but I think that may have been for a "coilover" install and not just a "spring" install.

What bolts/nuts do I have to remove the get the front springs out with the compressor?

Thanks

On the front, the entire spring/shock assy has to come out so the new spring can be installed on the shock, then replaced as a unit

I have yet to have to use a compressor on a spring install

You have to remove the strut bar bolts in order to get the shock/spring out.

You Must be Debot from the Movie Friday, because all the Spring Installs I have done (4 total 5 after the Z), with out the compressor you can injure yourself when removing it.

Also I dont see how you get the spring on with out the compressor. How much brut force are you using there?

I have seen people do springs without a compressor. Not the safest way, I grant you that, but nonetheless it can be done.

Then by all means use one.

You can rent the spring compressor from any auto parts store. I think it's safer this way. Also, you have to remove your strut bar in order to access the 3 bolts that attach the strut to the car. Keep the struts on the car first, and loosen the top nut on the strut assembly using an extension - it will save you a lot of time and effort this way when you are installing the springs. I did all 4 with the help of a friend. Good luck!

I agree with EASY, by the time the nut is out to the end of the strut when removing, there is little to no tension left on it.
