Brake rotors
I have searched the forums, and can't really find an answer. I am looking to replace the rotors on my '03 touring with drilled, or drilled/slotted. This is a daily driver only, no tracking. Please, explain the difference between a set of $600 rotors, and $300 premium ebay rotors. The warranties on some of the ebay rotors are considerably longer than the " name brand" rotors. Is cracking really an issue for this application. I'm running the Hawk HPS, which I really like, and all I am trying to do is dress up the wheel area with something different. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

if it aint casted drilled rotors, dont bother,.. ur car is worth more than that. 99% of ebay ones are not casted. But if ur going for show, then the ebay brands will safice as long as ur not autocrossing or breakin hard for long periods of time.
I just bought a set of R1 Concepts Drilled and Slotted Rotors. They should be in next week, and I'll let you know my impressions of them. A few members on here have been running R1 Concepts Brakes (davidv included) and have positive reviews of them.

Well now we know davidv has found his calculator! Most of the aftermarket rotors ( no matter where you find them ) adhere to the same ISO specifications. Brembo only offers a 30 day warranty, while others that have been selling rotors for 5 to 10 years are offering 90 days to 1 year. For a daily driver, I would love for someone to give a real explanation of the differences.
funny you should ask, I just got out of the garage from replacing my Stillin Slotted and drilled rotors, I have a few small cracks where they are drilled and a large crack on one of the drilled holes. I don't drive that hard, just a couple times to 110 and slowed down suddenly. I think the stock ones are much better than the stillins. I saw pics on this site of some cracked ones and I was wondering if I had the same problem, so I looked and sure enough I did. I originally thought that I had a warped rotor, turns out it was much worse. Stay away from the Stillins for sure.
not to offend anyone.. but i think cross drilled looks retarded with OEM brakes... i tend to associate that with civics and neons trying to gain themselves that bad *** edge but miserably failing. The best show and the best results comes with a nice BBK. Personally.. dont touch the rotors.. OEM is the best after BBK.

it actually took 13 business days UPS to get mine. i like them alot. Keep us posted.

I had a feeling it was going to take some time, especially with UPS ground shipping from Cali to Mass. I was able to get them to ship priority mail instead, so hopefully that will shave a few days off.
Are you doing this for looks or some perceived performance gain?
If for looks only, you likely should be fine. I'd err towards the slotted vs drilled, as there are far less potential downsides
If performance is what you are after, there is absolutely nothing wrong with stock rotors...they just need a good pad mated to them. There are options for good pads even in non Brembo calipers, and for the Brembo guys, it's wide open...tons of excellent pads on the market.
I would also take any rotor warranty with a gigantic grain of salt. Do you want to be in a position where you are taking rotors off, and shipping back, waiting, etc? If you make the right rotor/pad selection the first time (Stoptech Stage 2 comes to mind....downright great quality, comes with rotors/lines/pads/fluid, all from a company you can trust, and 0 issues), you won't have to worry about any warranty...you'll be too busy enjoying your car

For me, it is strictly for the sake of appearance. I think the stock rotors look a little plain. I prefer the look of drilled only, or even dimpled only. If the drilled/slotted are considerably more reliable, I could go in that direction. I guess I don't feel the slotted only look any better the stock ones. The only problem with Brembo drilled is I believe they come in the gold color, not silver.

I have been using a set of RotorPros drilled and slotted rotors for about a year now and they have worked fine. I bought them when I needed to replace the worn out OEM rotors.
