Default hotchkis springs not lining up, help!

I have the passenger side front suspension out, and new spring on. I go to put it back on and the top 3 bolts don't line up with the openings. I have the bottom of the spring seated properly so the end fits in the groove, as I do with the top as well. Tried both springs and neither one of them works so the bolts line up where the mount in the engine bay. What am I doing wrong? The only thing I can think of to make it work is to not align the top part so it fits, but then the spring wouldn't fit up against the grove like the stock ones do. Do I only need to worry about aligning them with the lower cups and not the upper?

I think you have to rotate the top part (the part with 3 bolts) to line it up so it fits in the top, and the lower strut fits on the arm. Do you have a spring compressor tool? If so, just compress the spring a bit, and rotate the top part to line it up as close as you can, then take the compressor off. Remember to get the lower part the right direction -- the little metal thing that sticks out to hold the wheel speed sensor goes toward the front, I *think* (double check this).

Well said mthreat. I had the same problem the first time I went to put my back on. You really need to test fit it first. But like he said above, if you have it in an spring compressor just rotate it some.

Got it on, didn't even need to use a spring compressor I'll have pics up tomorrow, tired and busted up from the install and a few bolts that just refused to come off
