R1concepts rotor + pads kit
I took my car to the stealership the other day to get a quote on getting my brakes done. I have 35k miles on my stock brakes. The quote for 4 new pads and to replace the belts was 750.00 dollars. WTH??? I knew it was going to be a little more than going to a shop but damn. Plus that was for OEM parts. I hate replacing parts on my Z with OEM. So I looked around and bought some slotted/drilled rotors with hi-performance pads from R1concepts.com for 419.00, 460.00 with tax and shipping. I must say I was pretty impressed with the quality. I haven't had them for more than a month but so far the car stops great and the brake dust is buildup is gone. I don't track my car so I'm not sure if these are for everyone. It's a great alternative then just replacing the brakes with stock. Another thing is if you are going to have someone put these on a lot of corporate brake shops or the dealership won't touch after market parts. I took mine to a big name brake shop and they said they couldn't install the stuff for me. Then the guy asked if I need a receipt. I said no and he said come back after we close. 100 dollars later and I had my brakes installed. When I showed up after the shop closed there were 2 other people doing the same thing. They must get that a lot. So I would suggest trying this if you have a problem finding a place to do your brakes. It is easy to DIY but I didn't want to wing a brake job besides 100 bucks is a great deal and well worth it. so for 560.00 I got 4 new slotted/drilled rotors and pads which was an upgrade to the stock setup. I would recommend this kit for the daily driver that needs to replace their Z brakes. I can't say if they are good enough for the track or not. I do drive the car hard on the street sometimes and have had no problems.
This is the kit that I bought.

Is there any rust on those? I know alot of people complained about the zinc coated ones that it wears off quickly and they rust. But these are painted in some method and looks like it might be better then the zinc. I've been thinking of getting a set.

What specific grade cast-iron does R1 Concepts use, vs. say the OEM Nissan rotors or replacement Stoptechs for example?
Where exactly are the blanks produced? Where are the drilling and slotting machining procedures performed? Since you claim they are "cheap chinese rotors" I must assume that you are an expert in brake systems and metallurgy and that you aren't talking out of your ***?

So tell me how a blank produced in China will differ performance and life wise from a blank produced in India, or in the US, or Mexico... What cast iron grades does each use, and how does this affect stopping performance?

So far, the Zinc coating has held up nicely, and there is minimal rust on the outer surfaces or vanes. I am starting to notice a hint of rust in the cross-drilled areas though.

What are you basing your quality claims on? Do you know the machining tolerances used? Do you know what quality controls are in place? Have you taken it upon yourself to measure rotor concentricity, run-out or parallelism? Have you examined the cast iron grade?
So basically all I hear from you is "made in China = you will die" with nothing to back up your arguments. It is fine to have your opinion, but please do not feed this community misinformation based off of your own bias...especially with no facts to support your claims.
