Brake Dillema!!! Brembo's or stoptech front
#41
dwnshift, as an apparent racer, I am surprised to hear you even try to put the credit on your Brembo calipers/rotors. Shame on you. To anyone who has ever tracked their car, and knows the first thing about the differences between Brembos and Stoptech, it is quite obvious that you are outbraking HIM, not his Stoptechs. If you two were to swap calipers/rotors, you would still be outbraking him. It has nothing to do with the fact that you're using smaller Brembos compared to his Stoptechs. Be careful, you're spreading misleading information.

What they are runnning isnt the Stoptech 355 kit.....and I am not misleading the crowd.... I am mearly just stating what we have been using and what we are up against. If we are talking abut a bigger brake kit over the stock "track" brake package then thats a differnt story......untl then I am just stating "my own opinion " that believe the stock Brembos are a very nice package for a $30,000 sports car and for $1800its not a bad deal.

In that case I would assume it to be the 332 mm kit, still a size advantage over the stock Z's Brembos at 324mm. If their Stoptech kit is smaller than that, then I have never heard of such a snmall kit from Stoptech. I am under the impression their smallest kit is 13.2 inches (332mm). And I agree with you that the stock Brembos are a nice package, albeit costly. Not sure what you mean by $1800 though. Perhaps you mean $1800 over the cost of the Perfornamce model with ordinary brakes? It is my intention to upgrade to a 332 mm kit on my Enthusiast Z. I considered the track model for the brakes and wheels, but instead i will be buying lighter wheels (SSR Comp H) and larger brakes (13.1 inch) for roughly the same cost. And as far as you passing the guy with Stoptechs, it's just that the way you wrote it, it seemd like you were giving the credit to your Brembos, when in truth it is you who are responsible for outbraking your competitor, not the brakes (and only because he is also running upgraded calipers/rotors).
