Default This happen to anyone?

I was goin to replace my brakes today since it was 70 outside. So i remove the front Wheel and set it to the side. I get my 14mm socket out and start to take off 1 of the 2 bolts holding the caliper on...SNAP head of the bolt just breaks off will ease. I figure im already screwed so i try the other one SNAP. both of the head just twisted right off.

+1
I had to kick the wrench to get mine loose. And no breaky. You sure you definatly turned it the right way?? (No pun intended)

Based on your picture and the way the threads broke, it does look like you were turning the correct way. That sucks!! (Not to get all CSI on ya!) Maybe the person before you put threadlock in there or something. But still then i think you can still turn through threadlock, it's just harder.

It is due to material stress most likely.

If you were turning them the right way , they were just way over torqued fromt he last brake change.

I've done that, but they were rusted and on a subaru outback. Totally f'ed up my day.

That probably would not have happened with an impact wrench.

I think any high temp bearing grease should work. Spend the extra few cents and get the synthetic. Don't know if it'll make a difference, but i'm sure it wouldn't hurt! Just ask the guys behind the counter. You don't need a whole lot. Grease dripping on your rotors wouldn't be good!!
