my rear brakes are still squeaking after replacing the brake pads. i was told i didn't need new rotors so i just had them re-surfaced. could this be why they are still squeaking?

i'm thinking it could either be the pads themselves or the rotors.

any ideas on what the problem is? thanks guys. its just really annoying because i replaced my pads to stop the squeaking in the first place.

 

Looking at your sig...do you have OEM regualar rotors/pads in the rear?

 

i replaced the oem pads in the rear with prostop ceramic brakepads and resurfaced the oem rotors.

 

I did an entire write up on this about a week or two ago...

 

did you get backing plates? Did you use anti squeal compound?

 

i'm not sure. is there a way i can find out or should i just bring it back to the shop where i got them replaced?

thanks. i've only had the brake pads in for about 2 months (is that long enough for break-in). i'll give it sometime and see what happens.

 

I'm really not sure. I can tell you the anti-squeel compound didn't work in my case. I took the Z out Tuesday night and it squealed like a pig at every stop. I'm ordering new pads after Christmas...
