Default Brake wear issue...

Not to bore you with details...

Purchased the car last year 2004 touring with 30,000 miles.

9 months ago, I had them put new front rotors/pads and turn the rears. Well, these things had been making some awful squeaking noises and pulsing etc, so I took it into the local dealership here in SW FL and they told me that the new front rotors are un-turnable and have to be replaced along with the pads.

so 9 months and 17,000 miles (yes I did alot of driving in 9 months) wore out brand new front rotors to the point where they have to be replaced? I dropped 650.00 the first time and now just spend 890.00 this time! I called Nissan USA and they are investigating it (with hopes to get comped for the rotors if anything), but now, with only 500ish miles on my new front brakes they are already looking like ive put 10k miles on it.

I dont race this car and nore am I "rough" on it. I mean it is a Z, but im not stoppping dead from 110mph... Do these cars really burn through brakes that fast, or does it sound like I have a major problem.

My buddy said the calipers look fine or the wear would be uneven.

Thanks for any help! sorry if this is a repost...

I replaced the OEM front rotors at 48,000 miles. 48,000 miles of weekend HPDE, autocross and drag racing.

Lots of information in your post except rotor thickness. If someone told me that my rotors need to be replaced, and that they cannot be turned, I would certainly ask “How thick are they?”

BTW this is one of the best brake money saving tools available.

They make more money selling you new rotors and can turn your car around faster.

Jesus....

I just picked my car up from Sutherland Nissan here in Fort Myers, FL and what the hell!

My cds were laying all over the seat, my seat was layed all the way back, it smelled like nasty cologn and there is now a nice big gash on my dashboard console! Not to mention my radio was blasting and my AC was on full.

I can't stand this, I already have a dispute going on with Nissan, guess I'll add this to it.

Something fishy is going on! My new brakes look worn in only 500 miles.

guess I will take it to a Midas or something.

update:

Went to a tire place and had them look at the brakes. They said it looks fine, probably just cheap parts.

Still no word from nissan usa though, but will be taking it in this weekend to have my console door replaced for a scuff...

I have learned my lesson and will not use a nissan dealership for my brakes...

This is another reason why you NEVER take your
car to the dealer. You are so close to japtrix, well...
closer than I am, yet you took the vehicle to the
dealer. It sounds like you're out of warranty, unless
you have some sort of extended deal. You should
absolutely never ever no matter what ever take
your car to the dealer. Unfortunately, Nissan sells
a vehicle which cannot be properly serviced at the
same location as the point of sale. Go to Japtrix
for any and all of your issues. Its a drive, but you
will not be dissappointed, lied to, intimidated, or
otherwise made to feel stupid that you purchased
the vehicle in the first place. Secondly, a full replacement
of rotors and pads should last at least 25K miles
under "street" driving conditions, this was my experience
with stock Nissan hardware. I have since moved
on to Rotora rotors and Hawk HPS pads which
are worry free after 15K miles. Best of luck, and
do more research before letting someone incompetent
touch the car.

Some members are happy with dealer service. Some are not. Always best to ask for a recommendation in the regional forum before getting work done.

It helps to call Japtrix in advance /// There was a two week wait
for an oil change when I called last week. Extremely fair and
reasonable.

Work on your brakes yourself then you won't get ripped off. Brakes are easy.

Your wasting you money if you dont work on your brakes.

A brake job doesnt take that long, and I have never "turned" my rotors...LOL

Condos - gotta love 'em. If I pop the hood of my car in the garage,
I get dirty looks in the elevator. I need a garage and a jack. fer real.
