Default NISMO SWAYBARS installed!!

Just got finished installing my Nismo front and rear swaybars.

My first initial reaction is that the car feels lighter(I know its not). When you turn, it seems to respond quicker without any hesitation or sway. It seems to have cured some of the understeer. Its a bit early to tell since I just went on a 5 minute ride. It may all be in my head but the true test will be tomorrow after the SCCA autocross event.

I have an extremely accurate scale at work, I'll post weight differences in a bit down to the 0.01 of a pound.

The install went pretty easy, took me about 1.5-2 hours but I was working extremely slow since I enjoy laying under my Z and checking out all the parts, it kind of feels good to get to know the underbelly a bit better.

zoaisis... congrats on the new NISMO sways... and your impression is right on. Those sways coupled with the new coilovers will send you Z to the upper limits of handling.

Any update on your impression of the NISMO flywheel ?

thanks

The flywheel when coupled with the pulley's allows for much much quicker reving and throttle response.

With the flywheel installed by itself, I don't think it helped acceleration much but throttle response was inproved. I only drove the Z for one day without the UR pulleys so my observations about flywheel only may not be real accurate.

I can tell you guys for sure, this definitely helps keep the car balanced in autocross when slowing down going into corners because the engine braking(letting RPMS slow the car) isn't nearly as severe as before with the heavy flywheel/pullies since the lightweight components rev easier. I can't do the heal/toe thing yet, if I could, the above may be irrelevant.

I don't know that I would have spent the cash on labor to replace the flywheel if I wasn't replacing the tranny. If I could do it over again, I'd like to try the JUN instead, although no complaints about the Nismo, just a bit of curiosity about how much different the JUN would perform.

My butt dyno says the pullies/flywheel provide about 15 RWHP.

I can't wait for the JIC Coilovers!!!

YEAH BABY!!!

These sway bars fixed any understeer problem that I previously had with the stock sway's. I can't believe how much better the Z handles on the track. I ran SO3's today and the Z's limits were definitely the SO3's, with race rubber, I would have challenged for Fast Time of Day. I ran a 45.1 and the FTD was 43.3. I'll post results after next weeks High Performance Car Clinic out at Heartland Park in Topeka. That will be the true test since I'll be going 130mph or so!!!

Oh, recovery after coming out of a hard corner approaching another hard corner was significantly better. I'd say the sway bars are my best track mod yet. Coilovers will be on by Friday along with race rubber and most of the other mods below.

Awesome. We're currently building a 350 for drift and were concerned about tendency to understeer. We were gonna opt for the Eibach sways but your testimony of the NISMOS is quite good. Is there any reason you picked the NISMO over the Eibach as i'm sure the NIS are more $$$$. My last question to anyone is if they could post the diameters of the Eibach, NISMO, and even Cusco bars if they know them off the top of their head.

Much thanks. We need to isolate what bars we will use within the next two days.

Thanks.

To be honest, this is my 1st year racing so my experience and feel has limited value. I do know that there's no doubt, the car felt significantly better than with stock bars. Nismo is generally overpriced, I just opted to go with them because thats what Gruppe-S said was the best option. I am 90% sure the Nismo sways are the same diameter as stock. I'll take some measurements tomorrow and post the weight differences.

I'd appreciate it. Gruppe S is around the corner from my house. I'll call them too.

Thanks.

Stock sway bar diameters for the Z, G35 coupe and G35 sedan with sport suspension all all the same. 33mm front 20mm rear.
I hope the Nismo rear bar is thicker, or your basically paying for it's poly bushings vs stock. Front bar can get away with being the same size as stock by using thicker walls in it's hollow construction, hence reason for any weight gain.

BTW, the Stillen adjustable bar set is 35mm front 22mm rear. From what I gather on their web site the stillen front bar is hollow.

The EVO350 specs as far as diameter has not been posted by them or any one else (that I've seen). But they did post the specs for how much stiffer their bars are over stock in each of the bars 3 adjustable settings. That's is important since the EVO rear bar uses a different shape vs the stock rear to enhance stiffness. So it's rear diameter can't be compaired to other rear diameters, it's not the same shape as they are. Do a search and you'll find the specs for stiffness.

Do some search on this forum. I think the guys name is Jeff Hess and he works for a Nissan dealer now selling NISMO sway bars for I believe $500. Warranty is good if you or Nissan dealer installs. His dealer is in LA area. I think it is Performance Nissan but not sure. Again, you want them so search with terms like sway bars, NISMO etc and I am sure you will find his threads, good luck, Jeff

626-305-3000 is Jeff H's # at Performance Nissan. Thats the guy being referred to here. Jeff is a class act, I ordered my Headers and purchased my Nismo Flywheel from him and actually drove by on my way to LAX back to KC on the release date so I could have it installed during my tranny replacement about a month ago.

If you really want one, call Jeff. He's works at the best Dealership I've EVER dealt with. Next time I buy a car, I'm flying out to Duarte, CA to see Jeff. His dealership is EXTREMELY generous and a true class act. Lets just say, I got a bit more than what I paid for!
