Nismo pads vs Hawk HPS
Yea in 2 track days and an autocross with HP+ I only got ABS to kick in once or twice. You might want to check for air in your lines, sometimes that can feel like ABS activation.

I used Hawk HPS at the last few track days and they performed very well. I didn't get a chance to bed them in completely (only 1 bed-in session) before the first event so I was basically bedding them in on the track. I had no problems with ABS and I was eventually mashing hard on the brakes.... (stock potenzas in 100+ degree heat, tires were gripping hard too).... No complaints as they did their job and held up well.
I could care less about brake dust. Brake pads produce dust. IMO..... If you don't like water, don't go outside in the rain.

For street driving and some autoX applications...... stock pads are perfectly good and acceptable. People always have this mod bug that anything stock must suck and anything aftermarket must be better. Dumb is what I call that.
If you are driving only on the street... you probably won't want a trackable pad.... track pads work best when heated up.... your brakes don't see high temps on the street unless you drive like a complete idiot. If you want to drive on the street and also go to track events with the same pads... then the hps or nismo will be fine... if you want an exceptional track only pad, then neither of those will probably be on your list.
for those that have installed the nismo pads....did you install the OEM backing plates on the front pads? It looks like these front nismo pads have a built in plate on them...and I don't need to transfer the OEM one.
I just searched through 7 pages of threads and I can't get a definite answer.

If you have Nismo pads that are for non brembo, you do not have to use the factory shims, i would save them for another pads in the future though as not all non brembo pads come with shims included like the Nismo pads.
