Default Well got a small brake issue..need advice..

After my PCA DE event with my new DS2500 pads, my rotors got spotted from the pads. So my car acts like the rotors are warped when they really aren't. Also I feel a grinding a little when trying to stop. It stops just fine, and the pads have a ton of life, but I think its the material that was swapped from the pad to the rotors.

Should I put my stock pads back on for a while to see if it clears up or just driving on the ds2500 pads for a while daily it might just clear up?

Never had this happen to other pads, so not sure what to do with it.

Same thing happened to me with my Porterfield R4 pads. Just drove on them on the streets for a few days and it cleared up. Then I swapped back to my street pads. Hopefully these pads will do the same.

It will go away after they get back up to temp at your next track day. The grinding noise is normal when you run a race pad on the street. They are not getting hot enough to work correctly on the street.

a race pad? DS2500 are by no means a race pad

you most likely overheated your pads - you'll need to re-bed them in, or bed them in better than the first time (which is probably why they overheated in the first place)

Well they never failed, but braked awesome. They were smooth since before I went to the track day. Now a bit rough. So I might need to pull them and sand them a little and reinstall.

I have never used those pads so I have no idea about the compund, but the problem he describes happens often with my Raybestos St-41's and BHP PR1's after heavy track use.

Russ, I have the same issues with these pads after the PCA HPDE a couple of weeks ago. It does make the squeaking noise when its cold but that's normal. Once the pads are heated up, they're quiet. During Sunday's autocross, the pads were squeaking as I pull up the grid. Once I'm on the course, the pads were quiet. On the street, I usually try to heat them up early so they won't squeak as much.

It's not the squeaking that is bothering me, it's the growling/grinding noise plus the warpage rotor feel.

The general consensus (and by consensus I mean http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...rakedisk.shtml) is to sand the rotors with Garnet Sand Paper. The only problem is that it is impossible to find Garnet Paper. You will need to order it from 3M.

I recently resurfaced my rotors with scotch-bright circular pads and a drill and it worked well. I believe (not 100% sure) these are not made with aluminum oxide.
