Replacing Pads On A Brembo-equiped Z

Default Replacing Pads On A Brembo-equiped Z

ive just recently started hearing a noise from my front passenger brakes. i believe my problem is just worn down pads. is there a good diy guide for changing the front pads for brembos or can someone write one up? i found some great diy guides for non-brembos, but none for brembo equiped z's. i heard it was easier for brembo owners than regular brake owners, so ill pry do it myself, rather than getting rapped by a stealership (im a noob as far as braking systems go). can anyone please help? ill pry go with hawk pads. any other suggestions would be great.

Its easy once you get down there and get started. You dont have to remove the caliper, just the pins that hold the pads in. They will slide out.

undo the bleeder valve and compress the piston enough to get the new pads in.

put everything back together and bleed brakes.

is it possible to do without undoing the bleeder valve, which in turn forces you to bleed the brakes later?

yes you don't have to undo the bleeder valve.

Just take the cap off of your master cylinder when you do it, that'll make pushing the pistons an easier task since the brake system won't hold pressure. You'll see after you change your pads, the fluid level will be higher.

Another trick you can try is, once you have one pad out, turn it sideways, slide it back into the slot and push the pistons back.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I was able to change all 4 sets last night in about an hour and a half. The first ones took as long as the last 3 because it was my first time ever with brakes and had some difficulty at first. All in all, it was a super easy task though. I pry enjoyed bedding them in the most... gotta love an excuse to accelerate and deaccelerate as quick as possible several times.

Glad to hear! It's a nice feeling when you finish a task that you had to learn yourself eh? I think brakes were my first project back when I first started working on cars myself.

Yes it is. My next brake project will be drilled and slotted rotors and track pads. However, this won't be for another 2 years when I pay my car off... I plan on spending some time on the track.
