Hotchkis Springs
I have an 07 and I was looking to get the hotchkis springs for my car because it lowers more in the rear. So I did a search and people say that because the 07 has the revised suspension that the hotchkis springs are softer in the rear compared to the OEM one. What does that mean "softer"? Does that mean the ride is going to be bouncey in the rear?
Thanks
Thanks
Mine aren't bouncy whatsoever. They're sure not stiff like coilovers or other springs out there. A very driveable coil that are still comfortable on long trips, but handle very well (according to my standards) on the twisties.
Softer? I don't know if it's softer but it's def. an upgrade from stock. But you need to get shocks to go w/ springs (most ppl don't do this and eventually they'll have to anyways so do it at the same time).
Lowering your car as little as the Hotchkis coils do won't kill your stock shocks and struts. At least not quickly. You'll still get decent life out of them. Then, when they go, you'll have a reason to upgrade.
The spring rate is lower than the the revised nissan spec suspension in the read of the car. I forget the exact differences, but something like 340 in the rear for Hotchkis and the revised 04.5 is 410 or so. As for what the difference will do, search and read. It's been discussed ad nasuem.
Ive read a bunch of threads on this but I dont understand that term "soft". Because according to the spring rate database on this site:
Hotchkis 350Z Linear springs .6”/.8” drop
Spring rates in lbs 340/330
Stiffer or softer then oem springs by F+8% R-3%
Transfers +12% roll stiffness to front
See that -3% stiffness in the rear wat does that mean? How does that affect the ride in the rear? From wat I can tell these are the only springs that have a negative percent for stiffness for my year.

Its pretty easy to understand in simple terms the stiffer or "harder" the spring the less roll you have. The "softer" you have the more it gives and sways in turns. I have them and love them not to extreme of a drop but just enough. You better get a set of sway bars while your at it.
in short, it's not really the ideal spring to use on your car - the rears are too soft of a rate and not an ideal match for the revised rear shocks. Now, is it the end of the world? Certainly not. Are there better options with similar drops? Yes - Tein S Techs
Yea the tein-s were my second choice but i notice the oem height the front is lower than the rear so i figure it would look better if i use the springs that lower more on the rear to even out the car. So if I went wit the hotchkis and sway bars in the rear I should be ok? Thanks for the help
