Default Brembo and Base Brake Questions

I was hoping someone could lend some help with a question I had. Here's the situation.... I own a 2006 base model 350z, thus base brakes. My friend owns a 2004 G35, loaded with brembo brakes. He's actually planning on trading it in to a dealership, who doesn't care what kind of brakes are on the car, as longs as they work! Therefore, he's interested in switching brakes... which I'm pretty excited about. I've done some research and have a pretty good idea about what is expected to upgrade my 350z to these brembos. But, does anyone have any information on problems there might be switching the Brembo-equiped 04 G35 brakes to brakes from a base 06 350z? I don't imagine there will be any issues, but wanted to see if anyone might think otherwise.

Any insight would be great!

I believe that the 06 have bigger rotors then the 03-05 G's/Z's, might not work. G/L.

Yes, I believe you are right.... but I was hoping that since we were switching out rotors and all that it didn't matter. Am I wrong?

From what i could see from looking around this forum, it is a painless swap. Brembo caliper bolts will be needed and dust shield will have to be trimed or removed.. Please correct me if im wrong as im also looking to do this too. I wish i had a friend handing over brembos before they traded it in...GL with swap!

I swapped my '06 brakes for a G35 Brembo brakes (calipers & rotors / bought new pads & lines). No issues whatsoever.

What about the other way around. Did the install of '06 base brakes on the G35 work ok?

I know it's possible because I own a G that currently has base brakes, but once upon a time had Brembos.... but am not sure what all the job entailed.

Not sure but it should be fine. The G35 did a BBK upgrade.

I don't know of the rear brake dust shield size on a 06 350Z; but your may need to trim the rear brake shield lip. Nows the time to change out the brake lines to SS ones. Goodridge makes SS brakes lines for the stock brembs's.

You should install new brake pads and check the rotors to determine if they are still true (i.e. not warped). You can have the rotors turned provided they were not turned previously. Also, it a good time to change the brake fluid. I changed my brake fluid to DOT 4 (its blue instead of yellow - DOT 3) so you can see that the new brake fluid is replaced to all the calipers.

Make sure you torque the caliper bolts to spec (see Nissan Service Manual for details). Bed in the new pads per manufacture direction.
