Default What could this noise be, loud squeeling

This started on Thursday, it's sound like it's coming from the rear drivers side wheel. The sound is like when a brake is worn out but with a grating noise mixed in, it happens usually right after I brake but will continue as I accelerate or slow down (without brakes). I thought it may have been my brakes so I went out and got new ones and put them on yesterday and noticed that my old pads still had plenty left on them.

Took the car up the street and the noise is still there

I have no idea what it could be, my uncle said it might be the parking break boots that have worn out

I think it's a rusty rotor. Did it rain recently? It should go away once you drive it a bit if this is the case.

Cleaned the brakes, rotors are not rusty so only thing I can think of is the parking break shoes. Ordered them so will see what happens once I get them installled

Thanks for the suggestions

Did you install the new pads or not ? Did you check both pads (inner/outer) ? And last, did you make sure the dust shield is not hitting the rotor?

I did install the nee pads, I checked all the pads, and it's not the dust shield. The noise was present before I changed the breaks and when I inspected the old breaks the all had about a little less than half a pad left. I only went to change them because I thought that was what created the noise

Parking break shoes make sense, because I do have to pull the break way up to keep it from rolling, especially on any kind of a hill. Also at times I would pull it up just a little bit when the car was moving to be able to program my GPS

Do some brake work and not break work. That may be your problem

Anyways changed out the shoes and still getting the squeal/groan from the rear wheel. At this point I'm thinking it's the wheel bearing that is the problem and since I have no idea how to mess with it I'll probably call up forged performance guys and see how much to get it done

wheels "looked" fine when I took them off to change the brakes, the sound comes exactly from the rear driver side wheel. It's a nasty squeal/groan like the car is dragging itself almost.

sounds like your pads are just dragging a little bit. Stop by and I will have a look.
