Default Time for a brake job

According to my dealer its time to replace the rotors on my 350z Track. I've been shopping around for replacement kit which would include rotors pads etc... and I found the Stoptech Stage II kit for the 350z w/brembo at IIR for $1399.00. This is only slightly more that what the dealer was asking for replacing the rotors with OEM equipment. I'm leaning towards this kit because I want to take the car to a track 2 to 4 times a year but I'm unsure how the pads (Axxis Ultimate Street Performance) would work out on the track. Is there anyone out there who has this kit and tracks their car who can offer advice?

you can also look at the dba replacement rotors as well. it's another good alternative that's a bit cheaper.

What pads do you use now at the track?

Haven't tracked this car yet so the stock pads are still in it. Plan on tracking the car this summer so I figured that since I have to change rotors now would be a good time to upgrade the pads.

$1399 for Rotors and Pads? Are calipers included too? Installation? That seems like a lot... you might want to shop around.

No this doesn't include calipers & installation but keep in mind this is an upgrade I'm considering not a replacement using OEM comparable parts. Also, I just started shopping this morning so I haven't made a decision yet.

""Stage 2 kit includes StopTech stainless steel (DOT compliant) front and rear brake lines, three (3x) 500mL bottles of Motul RBF600 (Synthetic DOT 4) brake fluid, StopTech 2 Piece Slotted AeroRotor Direct Replacement Kit (DRK) front and rear, and Axxis Ultimate Street Performance Pads front and rear. FOR USE WITH STOCK CALIPERS Direct replacement for your 350z track model!" "

The reason the price is high is because of the F+R rotors are 2-piece. I would look around at your options some more, I would suggest Powerslot rotors(same one-piece rotor Stoptech uses, they're brother/sister companies) but I've never track my car with them & have only had them on for a 1000km. The reviews from others are great though.

If you're really wanting 2-piece rotors, you could get some Project Mu SCR Pro 2-piece rotors & all the other jazz for around the same price. Check this store out:

Look into R1 Concepts Premium rotors if you want 1-peice. They get their blank rotors from Centric, which is the same company that supplies Stoptech with their blanks. They are alittle bit cheaper (only like 15-20 per rotor cheaper) and the same quality. I was going with Stoptech but opted for these after doing some research.

I was actually able to negotiate and make a deal with R1 for about 35-40$ off their asking price for each rotor. I also got unbeatable deal on Hawk pads from a vendor here on my350.

I took a look at the pricing on that site and the Project Mu SCR Pro 2 piece front rotors look like there slightly more expensive than the equivalent 2 piece Stoptech rotors. Where I'm getting killed is that the rear Stoptech Aero rotor is over 700! I could save 500 by going with 1 piece Stoptech slotted rears. Not sure why the Stop tech 2 piece rear rotors are more expensive than the fronts.

That's $350 for 1 rotor and 1 pad. A bit much for my budget.

i just installed the non-brembo stage II for the same reasons...i needed new rotors and the brake job would have cost me more than the kit. very easy installation and a great performance enhancement. i got the axxis pads too and so far no complaints but i don't track my car. not too much dust and stop on a dime.

there are some stoptech vendors on this site si check around for good deals on the stoptech stage II...prices can vary quite a bit. i believe you can also order the kit with different pads depending on what dealer you are buying the kit from. best regards

Go here for replacement rotors: 88rotors.com

I got four Centric slotted/drilled rotors and Centric Ceramic pads for 250.00 and they installed for 120.00 in just over an hour during my lunch break.

As stated in previous threads, Centric is parent company or associated with Power Slot and StopTech. See attached links:

When I asked the difference between Centric, Power Slot, Stop Tech, the reply was nothing, a label, slight differences in drilling/slotting, i.e., number of holes, design of slot, etc. Basically same rotors........you just pay more for a name...... but hey it's your money......do what you think is best.

There are a couple differences in the rotors, such as Powerslots can be cryo-frozen & have different vein patterns. There's always a reason why some are cheaper than the others.

Well if you're going to pay that much, why not spend a little more for something better? I would get the Project Mu's over the Stoptechs ANYDAY if I was going to spend that much.
