Default Brake squeel

Ok, so I'm driving, everything is fine. all of a sudden, I get this squeeling, from my brakes. Not even on them. Could just be cruising down a street or something, and it starts happening.

To get rid of it, i either have to pull up on the e-brake, and let it down, hoping it goes away, or step on the brakes. even doing that doesn't help.

I've looked over everything, up on a lift, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

What could it be?

Oh, if it helps... the only thing I've done to my brakes was change the pads... Installed Project Mu B-Force pads. Thought it might have been due to keeping the OEM shims on, and maybe the pads were still contacting the rotors. took the shims off, reinstalled the pads, and it didn't make any difference.

did you put anti-squeal on the shims?
sounds stupid but same thing happened to me when i changed the pads on my last car.
at the time, i didn't think the anit-squeal stuff would make any difference. was i wrong.

Brake squeal when the brakes are OFF? Don't know how that happens. The pads do NOT touch the rotors. What is there to make noise?

It's normal. Your Project Mu pads will squeal at certain temperatures at certain brake pressures. Don't ask how I know (I run project Mu B-force pads, and have mild squealing, but mainly during the colder FL months).

Obviously, if you didn't use any anti-squeal you're asking for trouble.

Did you bed your pads properly? I suggest doing a re-bed either way, per the instructions on the Stoptech site:

You haven't heard brake squeal until you run race pads in the cold...lol

Never heard wheel bearings squeal before more like a roar and more noticeable while turning.

Something caught in the brake shield?

Yes, I used the antisqueal on the shims... when i took the shims off, I reapplied it to the backside of the pad, only where there wasn't any, from the shims being there. Not sure why it'd be the wheel bearing... when I step on the brake, or pull up on the ebrake, it goes away.

Not sure if I bedded them in or not... Installed the pads a while back...
