Default BBK maybe? Or Upgrade, but what pads? I dont care about dust

I hate to do this to you guys but this is driving me nuts. All the threads I get are basically low dust, whatever. In reality, I dont mind how the car looks day-to-day and for shows, its as simple as cleaning the wheels the day before.

Firstly, i dont track the car. I pretty much only drive it on the street and it is my DD but i do plan on starting up Autocrossing. With that said, i should be looking for something that doesnt take alot of time to heat up or bites good in the cold right? What are some good pads that have good bite given the conditions I may encounter (street, rain, cold, autox) and have low noise. I am not really concerned with dust but squealing drives me nuts.

Also, 2ndly, I have been contemplating a bbk. I know I dont need it especially since i dont track the car but i think its a great looking piece that i dont mind paying for. With that said, would a 13" bbk be good for me? It shouldnt add too much weight and stop just as good if not better than oem?

Please help me out guys! I hope i have supplied all the neccessary info. thanks!

No BBK needed for your requirements.

You need stock pads, like Axxis Ultimates or even the OTS ones from Autozone, etc. I use the Axxis Ultimates for DD and autox. They are cheap and have great bite. You don't want aggressive pads a) because they will squeal when they're not bedded in, b) they won't give good cold bite, and c) the dust is corrosive when it's wet.

Yeah I did readup on the ultimates and at first I was dead set on em except that I forgot to say I have 06 and they never made em for my year. Oem was great but I'm trying to order a package thru vendors and so far I've been offered, hawk hps, hp+, hawk ceramic, and axxis deluxe plus. Speaking of which how are the deluxe plus, I've read they don't bite as well as the ult.

Would u recommend any of the above for my needs? Or shud I just buy everything separatly in order to get pads better suited for me?

i'd go with oem nissan pads and get your brake fluid bleed every 1 to 1.5 years. for your needs a regular street pad will do, a 40-60 sec autox won't make enough heat to fade any pad available for the z. I'd go with oem over something like axxis ultimates cause it dusts less, i know you said you don't care about dust, but if you can have less and still meet your requirements, why not?

if you plan on autox'ing, a bbk will put you in street mod, and you need a really well set up car to compete in that...

I recommend Porterfield R4 pads. Use lots of goo on the shims and they should be quiet, usually. They also get quieter with age. They're good cold and really good hot. I think they're perfect street pads as long as you don't care about dust, which you don't.

OP for your intentions just buy rotor blanks at Napa or Autozone. Add a better pad and better brake fluid. Far less expensive than any vendor on here selling their upgrade kits.

just in case someone comes across this thread through a search, I decided to go with just the stage 2 upgrade. I would have loved to have the BBK, but money is tight this month and I figure, I can always upgrade later if i feel the stock setup isnt good enough.

I went with stoptech F&R slotted rotors, and Project Mu B-Force pads. I already had technafit SS lines so I'm using those and Im gonna use Motul RBF600.

Based on reading other peoples reviews on the forum: Reason I went with the B-force is because I wanted something that bit harder than oem. I didn't want to sacrifice braking performance regardless of dust, noise, etc in relation to the stock pads. Also, supposedly its dusts a tiny bit less than oem, and there is very little squeak, if any.

The biggest con i guess would be that its a little harder on the rotors than say axxis ult or project mu ns, but its supposedly a 'street' pad, so we'll see. Once I get everything on, i'll post my review after driving around a bit.

Anyways, THANK YOU for everyone's input, it helped me make a better informed decision.
