Default Parts information needed for front suspension...

I have a problem with my suspension/axel

the front passenger's control arm that is connected to the wheel assembly has worn rubber that has chuncks of oil/dirt. i was told by my mechanic that it needs to be replaced.

does anyone know what the part that is connected to the control arm is called and where i can purchase this from?

Are there any Nissan dealerships near you? I ahve to ask since your in Europe. Go to http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z-pa...008-c-714.html they have parts, part numbers, and pictures that show what you probably need. Youll just need to search for it.

edit: in that link go under genuin nissan parts

That ball joint isn't part of the lower control arm, its part of the steering knuckle/spindle. It's the entire center piece where everything connects to it, the wheel hub, all the control arms and steering. I don't see it for sale on Z1's website.

I had to replace mine after a collision, it's a $300 part. I bought it at autocenter.net

I replaced it myself... and i'm not a mechanic, but if you are good at tearing things apart and putting them back together this will be something you can do.

Now Nissan doesn't sell new ball joints, but its possible your ball joint is not damaged and all you need is a new boot. You may be able to find a general size boot and just remove your current one and install a new one with new silicone grease or whatever is inside. Although if you've not done something like this before i'd have a mechanic who does suspension stuff do it. However if your ball joint is damaged replacing the boot wont help much, it will still bind up and cause all kinds of noise going over bumps. Eventually it will fail and break, disconnecting your lower control arm from the spindle then you'll be in big trouble.

ah you're right, my bad

we don't have these on our site yet...it's one of those things that's on the list to do lol, but it is a fairy straightforward thing to replace. You'll need an alignment afterwards
