Yes, they'll work with stock shocks, but they'll eventually go out...
You'll probably get a solid 10k-15k miles out of them, but they will start to get really bouncy, then who knows when they'll blow out...
To play it safe, you might as well just pick up some Tokico Blue's or some other "inexpensive" shock set.

A good inexpensive option will be the KYB AGX struts that have adjustable dampening settings. I had them on my Honda when I lowered it with 4 way adjustment in the front and 8 way in the rear. It was super easy to access for adjustment as well. Another option might be the KYB GR2 strut. From what I have heard, it's a good strut for lowered vehicles because it has increased dampening over stock, but it's not adjustable which should mean "cheaper".

But like someone already said, you might as well go ahead and replace them while your putting the springs in since you have it apart and you know the factory shocks are not going to hold up long.

Good luck with your selection.

ok so from all your comments and helpings i decided to go replace the shocks as well, it only makes sence.

Which one one these should i go with

Tokico HP Blue
KYB GR2
KYB AGX

i'm not looking to drop that much on shocks so something bang for the buck i guess would do i just dont want the car to be bouncy

very confusing , some people say good things about the HP blue's and some negative ... Obviously a 300 shocks will never match bliesten or koni yellow's but for the price i wanted to know if they are good and between the three i listed which one is bang for the buck.

The tokicos are actually good value and quality pretty good according my friends. Stronger than stock and wont put you in debt. Just like anything else, Of course they will go out on you if you are pushing your ride hard enough.
How old is your Z? how many miles does it have on it?
As long as you dont track or do off road driving in a Z you will be just fine with Hp's. save your money, or upgrade to the Dspecs if you have a little extra.

I was in about the same boat as you and I decided to go with the KYB GR2's. I would say they are probably the least expensive option and perform a little better than stock. Really depends how much you want to spend what you intend to do with it in the future?

Are you using sportlines with them? Also how is the drop?

No I'm using tanabe GF210. Drop is good. Sportlines would be more of a drop than this but up to you. Search for pics of sportlines, there are plenty of people on here riding with them. My pics are on this thread
