Yes when it comes to the 350z aftermarket coilovers out there......nearly everyone i have seen................all monotube styles......look at the pics of them on threads......on websites......when you look at the actual ones for the Z, you can see that the bottom fork needs to be turned to adjust height.....

its a process i know, takes time.........but gotta pay to play........it is what it is...

I tested them AFTER I adjusted them. I returned the preload back to stock (how they came) lowered the ride height using the bottom collar and spinning the bottom shock mount. I took it out for a ride and it was very rough, bumpy and noisy. Doesnt sound normal and got progressively worse.

Sucks. I think BC sells dampers for 95 per corner. Would this be all I need to fix it?

Indeed, i know what you mean, but that not what i understood form the Tein Manual, i don't mean anything, its just that i want to be sure that i'm doing it right if all guys here are lowering there cars by the same method you've discribed then it seem that i'm doing it wrong, at the same time i don't have any problems,,, any ways here is an attached image of me tein super street manual, maybe i understood it wrongly

No, they don't all adjust the same way. Some coilovers are 2 way height adjustable, and then Jason's post is correct. Other coilovers are 1 way height adjustable, and only adjust via the spring. It simply depends on the configuration of the coilover

I remember reading the BC Coilovers manual it clearly tells you not to adjust height from where OP adjusted it.

Not enough preload on the springs. I did about 7mm and it rides good. Some of the clunking was probably due to the strut bar also. Some of the bolts were loose when I was taking it off.

awesome, glad your all fixed up.....7mm is about what i have on preload on my coilovers as well......i made sure to give it some preload and adjusted from there after tracking the car/tweaking, etc.....

glad your good now...

there ya go.....then the tein must be 2 way........both how i explain - by turning the lower shock body and a combo of spring perch adjustment.....be easy on the spring perch adjustment though.....i would do the bulk of height adjustment from the lower shock body and ensure you have decent preload on the spring and that its not loose like what the op experienced and then from there decide/adjust/tweak, etc.......and get the spring preload to your liking.....

follow the directions and ensure your doing it the right way and you should be good.....

When i first installed my coilovers i adjusted to the height i liked and made sure to give my car a few turns of preload.......i would say i started at about 5mm's.........

I then hit up a few autoX events and i made sure i had friends/family taking pictures/videos of my car at specific corners on the autoX track.......

from there i can see that my set up was wrong.........as well as i could feel it driving the car.....my nose was diving and my car was pitched fwd too too much...

i then adjusted height and preload more and played with the dampening and did the same thing again..........hit up some autoX events and too pics/vids and got it to where the car wasnt diving on corners and heavy breaking and in general got the car to handle as i wanted........

that was looking only at suspension characteristics......

I know have measurements of where i like to have my car depending on track set up and have learned a lot playing with it before and after events............IMHO its a process and takes time.......a sort of natural learning curve.......in no means is it a one time adjustment........especially if your actively taking the car to the track........set up is key/crucial.....
