Yeah brakes arent as important as LSD and lots and lots of tires when it come to drifting... Just pick up some used Brembos... Got my set, front and rear with all hardware for $500 bucks and they are great.

i thought big brake kit is the most important thing when drifting.
u need to stop quicker and in order to lock up ur rear wheels, u need the rear big brake kit... that's what i think.

Uhh...no. If your trying to initiate a drift by using the brake method you only need a momentary lockup and that is achieve by using the e-brake, not the brake pedal.

If you are trying to lockup your rear brakes...good luck with ABS.

You must be planning on e-drifting.

If I were you I'd do some more research on what drifting is and how to do it before I even thought to look for my wallet.

For what application?

For looks / drift-oring - cheapest and drilled.

For stopping power and great pad selection - Stoptech and slotted.

If you have a base model then Z1 is 100% correct. In a Z u can power slide easier then ebraking with a nice feint. Add a good LSD and you'll be a sliding fool. Ever try e braking a stock Z on dry roads? Not pretty.. I feel like i'll rip the handle right the f off

Good advise. Look for wet (not soaked) or lightly snowed roads and start with doughnuts. Once you master the doughnut by throttle and steering the rest will come naturally! maybe

+1

Drifting with aluminum rear hats = no go.

Stoptech specifically states no dorifto on their rear kits.

If you want them for anything else they are great. They have a wide pad selection, tons of support and are track proven.

If i had to list them I really would put Stoptech at the top since they are an all around performer.

Mainstream:
Stoptech (well rounded, great support, tons of options, track proven)
Apracing (all out racing and huge sizes avail but not cheap)
Brembo ($$$ but has a great reputation)
Wilwood (great price, great support and cheap replacement parts, track proven. Looks good too!)

junk:
Ksport
D2

Looks great but is form over function:
Rotora

JDM:
Endless
Greddy
P Mu

Jury still out:
Alliance
Racing Brake
Akebono
WPP
Baer

No, you don't need to remove the ABS fuse to lock up the rears. But you're missing the point. In these cars you need to upgrade the rear ebrake shoes in order to even get them to lock powerfully enough. Better to just clutchkick or feint into a drift in these heavy cars. Who suggested to you that you even needed a BBK for drifting? Even the pros rarely use the footbrake enough to require a BBK. They only have them because they're sponsored and fully built.

If it's basic drifting you seek, invest in a reputable LSD, extra sets of oem or aftermarket wheels, LOTS of tires and the rest of the money goes into basic maintenance of the vehicle and SEAT TIME at drift events! Make friends who actually know what they're doing.

I'd buy Endless for the JDM factor but took a shot and received a sponsorship from Wilwood. I definitely like them, and they are super easy to swap pads and rotors.

I REALLY advise you get comfortable with your car and get to know how your car works before even trying to drift or mod your car. From the looks of it, you don't even know how your car works. Start reading, do a search, google stuff, go to howstuffworks.com do whatever you gotta do to learn. Here are some things to think about:
  1. Big brake kit will not help you drift.
  2. Big brake kit will not help you lock up your rear wheels.
  3. Getting rid of ABS will not help you drift.
  4. The way the brake system is biased in the Z, even if you get rid of ABS the front brakes are more likely to lock up before the rear brakes.
  5. You can do amazing drifts with the Z without using the e-brake or applying any type of device that would lock up anything on the Z
  6. Be safe, do not drift in public.
  7. If you crash your car, don't come back here and tell us.

By any chance is the rear hat a hub? or the thing that surrounds the rottor?

Drove down to Atlanta to drop off the first 370Z Alliance BBK to the customer, he is on the forums here. Expect a full ***** to the wall twin turbo 370Z track session with Alliance BBK review from him soon. He is good at what he does too, he will put these brakes through their paces and confirm what we already know

whoisthis:

oh man, i just read all your replies to all the good info others with experience have given to you and im sorry to say, but you sound like you really don't know what your talking about or car tech in general............and drifting, technique, form, etc in general....

I really really think you need to read and take the advice of others and get more seat time, learn more about the mechanics of your z, etc......

IN the mean time, please check out this thread for the basics of drifting:
DRIFTING 101 THREAD
- https://my350z.com/forum/drift/39963...ing-the-z.html

and i mean, read that thread and really understand what its saying, every aspect.

/thread

as this thread has gone way off topic........
