Upgrading the stock brakes
I keep missing the opportunity to buy a used brembo kit off the classifieds, so i think i'm left with upgrading the brakes gradually.
i have $1000 to spend (for now).. if i don't use that on brakes, it's gonna go for other stuff.
What are my options with that kind of money?
Thanks
Edit: btw, i got Volk GT-S 19s 9.5 +17, 10.5 +18 .. if that matters on what calipers would fit.
and i will track the car eventually and occasionally, but it's mainly for daily drive.

MAXMOOD:
What are your intentions for wanting to "upgrade" the brakes.....you mention wanting oem brembos, so were guessing your wanting a BBK.....
it this for looks or are you taking the car on the track to put the upgrade to use?
I ask because that would then change the reasons and units to buy.
Track - in no particular order:
1. Would want calipers sized to fit even 17 inch wheels - i have mulitiple 17's on Rcomps.
2. Relatively inexpensive pads - HPDE/road events call for pad changes
3. based off 2 - pad availability!!!
4. Top loading for quick pad change and no caliper bolt removal, etc...
5. Dont give a sheit on color or looks of them.....
6. SS lines to go with them.
7. Iron rotors, especially rear - for locking up e-brake for drifting. projeck mu ebrake shoes. - so no no to Stoptech and aluminum rotor hats, etc..
8. rotor availability
9. rotor price
etc...etc...
NON - track, wanna look cool:
1. Price.
2. looks.
with a 1000 bucks............keep saving...

^Thanks J....
as i mentioned in my first post, i'm gonna track the car occasionally.. as in AutoX.. i'm not gonna involve the car in drifting events.
and of course, i care about looks because at the end it's my daily drive car.
when i said Brembos, i actually ment the stock brembos (which i keep missing on the classifieds) and not Brembo's BBK.
if i get the stock brembos, then i'm fine testing the car on the track for the first few events (as i've never been on track before). and of course, later, i can upgrade as needed (rotors, pads, fluid, etc)..
it might make more sense if you say: if you're picking up stock brembos and eventually upgrading them, you might as well save up and buy BBK rather than doing it twice.
true that, but again, this car won't turn into a "track only", and tracking it would only be occasionally, which doesn't really require BBKs.
so, to answer your question, it's for looks + occasional tracking.
and if i had to put "purchasing a brake kit" on a side, the $1000 is going somewhere else.. and will have to start saving again for brakes, which will take a while..
soo, for example, if upgrading my stock calipers gonna cost $1000, then i'm gonna do that now.
and after a month or 2 i would've saved another $1000, then i can upgrade the rotors + pads. and so on..
so, what are my options of upgrade with $1000 budget?
thanks again..

Then i would say wait for a oem brembo kit for sale......as you should be able to get them for that price...
Contact Nexx -maybe he will ship to you: https://my350z.com/forum/8135139-post11947.html
read the prior post, he says they are oem brembo rotors cause hes offering them to nugetron.
you cant just install the calipers, you would need the rotors as well and iirc the lines..
rotor sizes for brembo and no brembo are not the same...

well, as you mentioned, i don't know how they're compared to oem brembos, nor wilwood too.
but as you can see, the full kit could cost up around $2200 (if not more). and with an extra $800 (makes it $3k) i could probably get a good BBK.. so, might as well just save for couple of months more to get a BBK for 3k..

correct me if im wrong, but arent stock brembos only marginally better than your 06 brakes?
the brembos are indeed better than your 06 brakes, but are they really worth spending all that extra money on?
i think you should prolly save up more to get a bbk
or just get new rotors, SS lines, new fluid and call it a day

Check with Gruppe-S in the Brake Vendor forum. They have the 6/4 Wilwood setups for $3k shipped! Also Strafe Automotive is currently running a sale, I'm sure the price is near that or maybe they can beat it.

but i've looked around, and Wilwood's fronts will cost 1.8k alone! which means almost spending 4k at the end!
just an upgrade to OEM brembos will do, but then i will upgrade the rotors and pads at a later stage..
