Thumbs up Koni shock Preorder

Recend information from Gordon Benson at Koni- NA. Gordon has said that the first SA Sport shocks will go to preorders when thay are first delivered. He says to place your preorder with a local Koni distibutor and you can be the first to get them.

Just wanted to pass on the good news. He also had part numbers for the single adjustable shocks.

Sport SA Front: 8241-1216 left and right
Rear: 8241-1217 rear

I placed my order today and wanted to pass on the information

It's getting closer

What did you do to preorder? Get on a list, prepay(we don't have prices yet), just contact a dealer, etc.?

Yes, find alocal Koni distributor, give a credit card for a deposit. IT varied from $100 to $350 for a deposit to just a card to charge when the shocks are shipped. So contact a few different groups. I am using a local race shop that will install and help with setup for autocross.

good luck on your shopping

Default Estimate Only

There is only an estimate so far of $600.

Thats close enough for me. Also Koni says these can be rebuilt to duoble adjustables later which is attractive to me as my ability (I hope) improves and DA become more usefull.

If you think you might get them converted, I highly recommend that you find out how much to do that work,......before you buy. You may find that it's not realistically priced. Might be as high as $350 each! That's what I was quoted just a few months ago for a different application to convert to DA.

Koni pretty much lost my intrest on the sports once I found out they will have less compression dampening than stock. Rebound only adjustment only interests me so much. But then again, no one offers a stiffer linear spring to run with them anyhow. Ground control coilovers are the lone exception. These struts ought to be great for those wanting to kill the bounce and not go with progressive lowering spirngs. But for my performance needs, coilovers remain the way to go. Yeah it would be nice to kill the bounce, but for $600, well thats $600 that needs to go towards more spring stiffness and greater dampener performance.

Absolutely close enough for me, too. Go, Gordon, go.

I can see your point for your needs, but less compression, more rebound control allows me to drive on our moonscape that passes for roads here. Sounds like Nirvana to me, no, not Teen Spirit, the real stuff.

#2.) Koni has not released the pricing yet .....

#3.) as soon as we have official pricing we will accept pre-orders but. $600.00 should be in the right ball park

Spring 2004? Augh!! Still, its better than nothing, thanks. I've already e-mailed Walt at your shop to preorder when the time comes. In or around $600 is acceptable to me, also.

I believe the Tanabe's and the forthcoming H&R's are both linear-rate springs.

These Konis would allow you to stay in the stock class if you AutoX. Coilovers won't.

I thought that might be the case. I don't have any rules to hold me back or to limit me, leaving me free to pursue a higher plain. So, new disclaimer when I talk about the konis is, the konis will be fine for those wanting to kill the bounce or for those wishing for improved performance over stock with the stock springs, that are constrained by certain class rules they have to compete under.

BJ aka dwnshift will be testing a set on his personal 350Z next week! I am sure he'll give us his professional opinion of them. Hopefully they'll be carrying them!
